STDs Running Rampant In Retirement Community
http://www.local6.com/news/9283707/detail.html ^

Doctors said sexually transmitted diseases among senior citizens are running rampant at a popular Central Florida retirement community, according to a Local 6 News report.

A gynecologist at The Villages community near Orlando, Fla., said she treats more cases of herpes and the human papilloma virus in the retirement community than she did in the city of Miami.

"Yeah, they are very shocked (to hear the diagnosis)," gynecologist Dr. Colleen McQuade said. "I had a patient in her 80s."

"More and more senior citizens are ending up in the gynecologist office, and their diagnosis is a sexually transmitted disease," Local 6 reporter Vanessa Medina said.

Local 6 featured Louis Franklin, who used to date in the community at least three times a week.

"I have had a better dating life since I have been here than I have ever had," Franklin said. "I know there are things going around."

A doctor blamed Viagra, a lack of sex education and no risk for pregnancy for the spike in sexually transmitted diseases at The Villages.

"All I can repeat are the things I have heard which are things like, 'Should I bring the little blue pills over tonight?'" community singles group president Richard Matwyshen said.

"It's the pizza delivery guy what's doing it!"

Wasn't that part of an old Cheech & Chong routine ("Hey lady, did you order a pepperoni pizza?") ?

A. Who does this doctor think she is? This info should be confidential.

B. Let 'em alone, for Pete's sake! It's nobody's business.

What an appalling invasion of privacy!

I always wondered who bought all that Viagra, Cialis et al and why they sponsor sporting events and advertise so much..

In the ads they have that "duh" disclaimer about "this product does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases".

Now it makes sense... :-)

Another mystery of life question--will ninety year old women look good to me when I am ninety? :-)

Dear kb2614,

"Dr. Colleen McQuade said[,] 'I had a patient in her 80s.'"

Those aren't mostly (or perhaps even at all) baby boomers. Folks in their 80s are the last of the "Greatest Generation."

The oldest boomers are just turning 60 this year.

Most of these folks are those who were born either in the years before, or during the Great Depression, a few during WWII, and maybe a few of the older boomers thrown in (at least in our area, the old folks communities start herding people in at 55).

Exactly -- these aren't boomers, who won't arrive at retirement communities for another 15 years -- IF they can afford it them.

This that "Greatest Generation" again. IE boomers mom and pop -- Marion Cunningham and the captain from The Love Boat.

This 43 year old and most people I meet my age have nothing in common with the boomers. I always thought the low end of the boomer / GenX'er sliding rule needed some serious adjustment.

Hey...the Medicare Drug Plan pays for Viagra now and then Medicare pays for all the drugs to get the geezers over their STDs. Thank you, taxpayers of the US. Louis Franklin is screwing you too. (This is certainly bad PR for The Villages, though. I'll always think of a STD pest hole now when I see their ads.)

Do you really believe this crap? Come on it's from a t.v. news cast. You can't get much lower than this.
Do you object to the possibility that elderly people may have a sexually transmited disease or that many elderly people actually enjoy sexually intercourse?
