Exactly. The team of Dennis and Nancy show the average American - who gets fined for forgetting to put on the seat belt 'cause the government knows beter than we do, that politicians are a protected class which answers to "no controlling legal authority"

Hastert did the Republican party a world of hurt.

Agree with you on Hastert, don't think Bush did anything wrong by showing respect for the Congressional claim. But boy do I agree with your reference to seat belt laws. Yes, I believe in safety regulations, but people are accepting government micromanagement of their lives more and more.

The one that really gets me is mandatory air bags - a system designed to force safety on those who won't wear seat belts, and which will decapitate a child or even small adult sitting in the front seat. So this "safety system" has indeed murdered some children, and kids can no longer safely ride in a front seat. AND there is no outrage.
