WASHINGTON, May 25 The negotiations between the White House and Congress that will follow the Senate's passage on Thursday of an immigration bill could decide not just how the nation confronts illegal immigration but also what strain of conservatism the Republican Party carries into the midterm elections and beyond.
Will it be the compassionate brand Mr. Bush considers crucial to the party's future, in this case by signaling support for a provision in the Senate bill that would give most illegal immigrants an opportunity to become legal? Or will it be the more doctrinaire variety embraced by much of Mr. Bush's party in the House, one that shuns anything that smacks of amnesty for illegal immigrants and seeks to criminalize them further?

"Can't we all just get along?"
Your desire to be all happy and skiping through the meadow with rainbows, is about as realistic.
Personally, I'm happy this is happening. These traitorous, egomaniacal politicians need a reminder that they work for us. I hope there is massive carnage on election day. The sight of these fat, pompous, imperialistic jerks cleaning out their desks would be wonderful.
BINGO
The 43rd Co-presidents of the USA
Chris Shayes, a man's man (LOL), is now saying he has changed his mind and is not for citizenship for the illegals.
You mean no matter where you stand on all other issues, if you support this Senate bill, you're a RINO?
Puh-leeze. Talk about who's splitting the GOP.
Emailing and calling my congressman AGAIN to tell him not to go along with the Senates Version of "Immigration Reform" aka "Surrender".
Looks like the House is out last line of defense on this.
The immigration issue is dividing the Dem's even more. the party against many of its memebrs and 72% of the american people
"This bickering has got to stop if we are going to survive as a country."
Illegal immigration has to stop if we are going to survive as a country.
The bickering must continue at an unabated level....this is no time for civility. I have heard that we are not talking about just 11 million illegal aliens, but closer to 33 million when they are allowed to have their families come and join them. In 1986 1 million turned into 3 million. Never again!
"Republican is not synonymous with Conservative" .
Email and call your congressman.

Good morning maria. Having been to Memphis many times, I can agree with your statement wholeheartedly!

If all the Republicans who voted against the Democrat/RINO bill would decide to run as members of a new American Conservative Party, they could be elected as such. Conservatives would be energized and ready to work hard to have their views represented instead of being ignored by the RINOs who stabbed the GOP and the USA in the back yesterday.
It is very instructive that every Democrat Senator who is in a contested fight for re-election voted AGAINST the Amnesty Bill yesterday. Say what you will about the Dems, they know what their constituents are thinking and will do or say anything to get them past the next election. Obviously, RINOs aren't that smart. Every one of them needs to be replaced with a conservative, and we should dedicate our time and treasure to finding and financing outstanding conservative opponents to challenge them in their next PRIMARY election. That's where you can get rid of these traitors.
Hopefully it will turn out to be something short of the way we got rid of the last tyrannical government.
