guess he thinks congress is "above the law" and that congressman's offices can be used as "safe houses" for illegal contraband be it drugs or documents.

Basic election reform needed:
1. Mark incumbents on ballot.
2. Eliminate tax with holding.
3. Eliminate congressional and presidential pensions.
4. Change tax filing day to last Thursday of October.
5. Go to the polls in early November throughly pissed off and, most importantly -
6. When in doubt - VOTE 'EM OUT!

There's a huge blow-back headed towards hastert and the other "we're above your puny mortal laws" tin gods in congress. This sort of arrogance is really pissing off a lot of people.
To: Echo Talon
Yeah he forgot the Contract with America, I guess.

You read my mind. Right now, as much as I detest Liberal Democrats, my ire is at it's limit with Republicans. I think that they are eating stupid pills these days.

Hastert is saying they need to work out a procedure for this. According to a piece a couple days ago, the House General Council had the info for several weeks requested from Jefferson by subpeona and wouldn't turn it over to the FBI. Noboby's talking about that now, I wonder why?

I will vote for the most Conservative Republican in the primary's, if he/she loses to less Conservative Republican I will still vote for them in the General Election because they would still be more conservative than a democrat. Plus losing the majority wouldn't be prudent.

I guess the Congressman are reading the polls. There was 1 poll that indicated 60% of the respondants said tough... You break a law you get investigated no matter who you are.

What the hell do these morons think they're doing in Washington? no idea, I think they are trying to distance themselves from FBI because its an election year.
Although I have no idea why they seem to be allowing that rats to frame every issue and debate.
To: RWR8189
"The issue that has concerned me, as Speaker, since Saturday night is not if the FBI should be able to search a member of Congress' office, but rather how to do it within the boundaries of the Constitution."
----
I was under the impression that he and the rest of the criminals in congress were more concerned with the IF than the how. Perhaps I was wrong...

If Hastert wants to make the case why it was improper for the FBI to execute a search warrant on a congressional office perhaps he should refer to the part of the constitution that made it "unconstitutional".
Otherwise it is just a bunch of hot air.
I also assume a judge signed the warrant so it wasn't just the executive branch by itself.
