If Rick Santorum had voted for this, I would NOT be voting for his re-election.
But then he helped save Spector (who is one of those leading the charge for this bill) in 2004, and their votes cancel each other out.
When a MAJORITY of our party, the party in control of the Senate, is against this - and it passes anyway - I truly fear for our society and our country.
As someone posted over on a Yahoo discussion thread:
That time is now.
These traitors are destroying America, and defying our Law and Democracy.
The majority of Americans wants our borders secured, and illegals deported!
If this bill cannot be stopped, it is seriously time for revolution to save our Nation, our Democracy, and our Rule of Law.
REF: Yahoo Discussion Thread on Senate Bill
That discussion thread on Yahoo is burning up the boards. Unlike our more self-selected audience here at Free Republic, it reaches a more general audience. If the tone (and plurality) of the responses there are a true indicator of how American's feel on this issue, then the Senate bill better not make it into law as is.
That provision, if true, is deeply sinister. I have noticed that local law enforcement in the border states and other locales have been waking up and doing more to apprehend illegals. So, the evil authors of S. 2611 have covered that with a provision that may be illegal itself!
I am looking to state and local governments to do more to fight the tide, as Georgia did recently.
Of course, whoever does defend sovereignty will be in trouble with the feds.
Vicente Fox speaks before the California Assbembly, getting a standing ovation. Friday, he will be presented with the Getty Center by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaracista, as the new seat of the Mexican Government de Alta California. (After the burning of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo)
My note to Senator Brownback - the Kansas Senator that defected to the Dems on passing this bill:
Senator Brownback - I am OUTRAGED at your vote on the Senate Immigration Bill. You broke ranks with a majority of Republican Senators. You broke ranks with Senators Roberts, Talent and Bond. But more importantly, you broke ranks with - and are losing the faith of - your constituents.
A SIGNIFCANT PLURALITY of citizens do not want the type of reform the Senate passed on Thursday. How is it that you found yourself able to support a bill that a MAJORITY of Republican Senators opposed?
How is it that you supported a bill that the two Senators from Texas did not support? Do you not think they understand, better than you, the implications of illegal immigration upon our society?
As a strong Republican, my only regret is that you are NOT up for reelection until 2010. For I would devote all of my energy into finding and supporting a GOP candidate that would represent our values, that would not give away our culture and our country to Mexico and that would care more about what U.S. citizens wanted than what illegal aliens and the President of Mexico wanted.
This bill sends the following message to illegals: "If you refuse to go home, we'll just have to give you amnesty. Then your Mexican relatives, friends and neighbors are welcome in the U.S. as our guests, and after they have worn their welcome and refuse to go home, we'll give them amnesty."
That'll teach 'em.
Thank God some one had the sense to find out what was in the legislation, rather than just voting on it.
What a piece of trash! Selling us out and for what?
I want to know why they are doing this to us?
Jeff Sessions' term isn't up until 2008.
We had better PRAY that the House does not sell American citizens down the road like the Senate. Further, we need to throw every effort into defeating those rhinos that would have us licking ILLEGALS boots and kissing vincentes butt.
BTTT
The dude on the right (in the first one) looks like Cheney.
In the words of Forrest Gump: "I feel sick."
What's the code for dangerously elevated blood pressure?
You know...the kind that makes the veins in your forehead standout and pulse.
It will take years... This was a big deal in 1986 and 1987. It went out of the news. Back then they estimate there were 3 million illegals. Today there may be as many as 20 million.
There was a big deal about immigration a hundred years ago. The common vernacular at the time was full of angry statements about the government allowing millions of WOPs to come into the USA. Those WOPs otherwise known as Italians, were never going to learn the language. They took over sections of our major cities and turned them into little Italys. They were not going to assimilate into our English nation.
You know what WOP stands for don't you? With Out Papers.... Yes dear WOPS were those with our papers... another way of saying undocumented workers. Our immigration laws clearly said that all legal immigrants had to have a birth certificate and a document showing they were not felons and had their native goverments permission to immigrate to the usa. WOPS had no such papers... but our government let them in anyway.
Oh yes, and those of English extraction did become a minority in their own country. As the non English speaking Italians, Polls, Germans, Serbs, and Slavs became the majority.
And I wager not many of these are standing for reelection in 06. However we need to remember well their abhorrent actions in 08 and 2010 so we can purge the list of RINOs once and for all.
I'll double that donation!
Let's see. You folks support illegal's stealing US citizen's SSNs and identities and then being not only forgiven for that felony (for which you would do serious federal time) but being PAID for doing it? Because of the theft or fraudulent use of SSNs they will get income tax credit for those 3 of the 5 years they CHOOSE to account for and be able to claim unearned income tax credit payments from your tax dollars for those years as well as qualify for full Social Security benefits based on illegal payments? Now why would you support that? Just curious......
Call them by the proper name. Traitors.
