"The Capital Times is busy today."

That's odd. The next Full Moon(bat) isn't until June 11th, LOL!

Dang, that philosophy sounds a lot like a TV (what do they call it) reality show.

I don't watch them, but I read about and hear about them on the news all the time.

These unreal "reality shows" the majority of Americans prefer over reality are apparently more important to the ones who interpret and bring you news than truth.

Case in point: Tens of thousands of Iranians marched/protested against their govt. (the govt. that seeks to nuke Israel and the U.S.) yesterday and not one mention on Fox News, let alone the other channels.

American Idol was the top news all day, over and over and over.

I've never seen American Idol. Or 24 (Is that the Fox thing, I think I actually saw it once). Why bother, Laura Ingram talks about it the next morning. She could find better topics as well.

Iranians marching, are you sure? I didn't HEAR anything about that. :>)

The political left is getting religion right.

Mmmm...no. Unless you're thinking like the Pharisee in the parable: "Lord, I thank you that I'm not as other men..."

The Left is soooo stupid. Do they think we don't remember them going on about trying to change their language to be inclusive of "people of faith"? They don't give a rip about religion and couldn't cite gospel truth if their lives depended on it...and the sad thing is, their eternal lives DO depend on it and they're just busy playing political games.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is promoting her new book, "The Mighty and the Almighty: Reflections on America, God and World Affairs." She represents a sudden surge of God and Country books written by notable persons who lean left. Apparently there is permission now for Democrats to be religious and to talk about it, as long they don't shout.

Gee, isn't it nice that the Democrat politburo has given its adherents leave to "talk about" religion? We know these guys are all about "compartmentalization", but religion (like ethics) doesn't lend itself to "compartmentalization". It's either directing your actions, to one degree or another, or it's not. These Leftist are trying to "retrofit" religion to their secular and socialist beliefs, like someone trying to strap a jet engine to a biplane. "Jesus would have approved of universal healthcare, because he was all for the poor". "Jesus told the rich young man to give his money to the poor, so he would approve of wealth redistribution in the form of high taxation". "Jesus said 'judge not 'lest ye be judged', so he would never criticize a gay person".

The political left is getting religion right.

No they aren't. They still consider religion as just another political talking point.

At the risk of sounding like the Fundamentalist that I am, I say:
Amen to that, brother.

Albright's religiosity seems a perfect example of, as Paul describes it in II Timothy, "having a form of godliness but denying it's power."

The leftists seemingly newfound appreciation for the tenets of Christianity rings hollow. It wasn't so long ago that Bill Clinton addressed the National Democratic Convention and complained about people who promoted "Family Values." Your point about (retro)fitting religious truths to bolster their social "gospel" is dead-on.

It's not as if any of this comes as a surprise, though.

"For the time will come that men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." II Timothy 4:3-4

I'd like to be more confident in my belief that all the religious talk from the left will be seen for the insincere blather that it (mostly) is; but I still fear that somebody, somewhere, may be swayed by it. I am particularly concerned by the appeals of the sincere, but sincerely wrong, leftists like Albright. I'm sure she's convinced that she's struck a reasonable balance between religiosity and pragmatism. Unfortunately, it's a perfect recipe for the kind of lukewarm, half-hearted spiritual life that is incapable of producing real change, growth and happiness. A pity, really.

That was the 1992 Democratic Convention when candidate Clinton mocked Dan Quayle's emphasis on family values, and the show "Murphy Brown" glorifiying the lead charater having a baby out of wedlock. I will be interested to see the Dem's reaction to Anne Coulter's new book, "Godless, the Religion of Liberalism."

we are at last getting religion right from the left.

Oh really? So the DemonRat party—pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-Hollywood, anti-Christian—expects normal people to vote for them?

I don’t think so—Homey don’t play that.

"Dems Grasping At Straws" Ping!

Apparently there is permission now for Democrats to be religious and to talk about it, as long they don't shout.

PUH-lease. Since when did the Dims stop owning, for instance, my religion -- Catholics?

One of my mother's earliest memories is of nuns telling the children "Tell your [dumb, ignorant, immigrant, barely-English-speaking] parents to vote for FDR, okay?"

My dumb, ignorant, immigrant, barely-English speaking (to them) Grandfather couldn't WAIT to go to confront these ignorant women as to why he came to this country in the first place.

I think, however, the timing for Albright's book is unfortunate.

*Snicker*
*Snort*

She is trying for -- money? relevance? -- while competing with this "DaVinci" garbage.

She's too late, of course. She should have "published" this WAY earlier. Like before the release of The Passion of the Christ.

According to the TV listings, all the networks have been competing for this "religious money" of which we speak.

Vice President Quayle was not taken seriously after botching up his spelling at an elementary school and the voters just could not see any credibility with him that is why President Clinton was able to make such outlandish statements and get away with it by means of winning the election.
