Russia Proposes Belarus as Meeting Ground
A meeting of the Presidents of Poland and Russia was expected in Autumn. There was mention of Gdansk and Kaliningrad or a ship as possible locations.
Now a meeting seems very unlikely. A month ago the Polish side received a letter from the Russians proposing Belarus as the meeting ground and Lukaszenko as host.

I wonder why they didn't propose North Korea.
And if anyone asked - according to the Russians it's Poland responsible for the tension between the 2 countries.

Is there anything to meet about? To each one's own, sheep to the right, goats to the left.

Clearly the Russians want the upper hand by meeting in Belarus. If they wanted to be fair, there's a slew of other places such a meeting could be held that are obviously neutral to either side.
Though from what I've read in my politics classes--it's pretty clear Lukashenko and his admin. is more or less a stooge for the Russians.
That, and from what I've seen, Poland has fared a lot better than Russia in the post-bipolar world...8^)

You know, the planned meeting was supposed to improve the relations.
Like hell, as we can see :-)

Seriously - Czech Republic was one of the places under consideration (at least I've heard so).
Which would be OK.
