Question 2 from some Sky News bloke that pointed out that the UN secretary-general still considers the Iraqi liberation illegal - Can't the UN be more effective?

Bush and Blair - We would like that, but they're going to have to recognize quicker.

President: I read the Iranian president's letter, it was 16-70 pages. They are pressing for a nuclear weapon and he didn't address the issues. We have no beef with the Iranian people. We respect the culture of the people of Iran. We want an Iran that is confident and free.

At the same time, we'll continue to work with a goverment that isn't budging so we have to ...

? Should the negotiations include a light water reactor?

President: They walked away from the table. We should let them know they'll be isolated. If they suspend, and the IAEA assures us the suspension is real, of course we'll talk about incentives.

Question 3 - How close are you to a deal on Iran, and why did you ignore the back-channel signals from Iran?

Bush - The Iranians walked away, not us. They have to stop their development before anything else happens. We have no beef with the Iranian people.

Presstitute continues to claim that the Iranians are trying to back-channel negotiations. Bush slaps him back down hard.

I can't believe this--I am actually getting the presser on National Radio, which we get from a very liberal university.

Glad the trees didn't hit your house. I lost a computer, TV, and printer during an electrical storm some years ago. It was horrible being w/out them for the few days it took to replace them. Hope you have a very good serger (sp?).

Question 4 - How are you going to get the UN to reform?

Bush/Blair - laughter

? You've talked about the UN and know it needs vigorous leadership. Is that a job application? Do you have osmeone in mind and how will you get the reform you want.

Blair: We want to make sure the UN is effective for munilateral action. You have to have an effective set of institutions to take care of problems. The whole point about the internaitonal community is that these problems are needing to be tackled, problems are quickly felt around the world and we need a UN to take action.

We want to have Iran resolved through multi lateral institutions.

A telephone call forced me to miss the last question -- the one that prompted President Bush to say "Hey wait a minute" . . . What was that all about?!
