That is the Specter amendment, not the final bill passage which was 62 - 36.

The final bill passage hasn't been update to the Senate web site yet.

I'm encouraged with the 56-41 margin of defeat. 35 repubs are sane and only 20 are complete morons. The margin is considerably closer than predicted by many pundits. Despite this result, I think the momentum is slowly shifting to the conservative perspective. I am optimistic the House will hang tough and carve out the amnesty benefit giveaway and hopefully up the amount of fencing.

Thanks for the info. Of course, my two POS senators from Illinois, Turbin Durbin and Osama Obama, voted for this garbage.

If anything, this reinforces the belief that we must at all costs hold onto the House, as it's the only place worth a damn in Washington anymore.

My sweet little HI D's. Oh, I will sweat blood in defeating them. Best case, it will result in another D, but, hell, with luck and work, at least Inouye and Akaka will need to find another parasitic living for some time.

It's curious that Salazar (D-CO) didn't vote because I saw him on C=Span walking around the chambers during the vote. I guess he knows he's walking on thin ice with his mouthing off about the "noble immigrants" to the voters in CO.
