dont think that has anything to do with his past maybe in this case he truly believes in the rule of law
To: Recovering_Democrat
32 republicans voted against the bill.... You are using the totals for the vote #156 which was the Specter amendment. Look at the vote total on passage of the bill which is vote #157

Hastert has already named moderates to the conference committee. That's news to me. Two House conferees that I've read who will be there are Sensenbrenner and Lamar Smith. Neither of those two will cave to anything that smacks of amnesty.

"A later trip dog and pony show, photo op to Arizona was designed to reassure fool conservatives about his commitment to stanching illegal immigration." Yeah....and that stupid jaunt around in that weird dune buggy vehicle looked to me like Dubbya's "Dukakis-Tank" moment.
Un f'n believable

Rush says the Mexicans will be required to pay taxes for three of the past five years. Where do I apply for this tax plan?
Not to mention, does that include penalties and interest??????????

It's hard for me to believe that people who use common sense in their judgment of any situation will soon forget the sell out by Graham Cracker and his RINO conspirators.
Graham cracker is on all the news programs trying to soften his traitorous stand on this Shamnesty.
Gramham the Sham and his lying band of Pharaohs sold out to Murdering Ted and his band of hate America first Senators.

Every day this government whether it calls itself democrat or republican grows in its conceit and contempt for not only it's citizens but it's founding document. If it is that the citizens vote no longer counts, then this government can no longer lay any legitimate claim to be by, for, and of the people.
This is disgusting.

That was yesterday.....I think that people who were once considered safe are now going to find themselves vulnerable. This is a vote whose impact is going to have legs. It's not something people are going to forget and it's an issue that is simple to understand. Time will tell, of course.

To: Wallace T.
Wallace,
Your post is spot on - well said. An elderly friend of mine called me today after the bill passed and said ' My God...I never thought I'd see the twilight of America within my own life time '.
I tried to assure him the House won't pass the damed thing but I really don't think he believes it. The House must hold the line. Hard to believe they are the last line of defense.
I've said it in more than a few threads but it still amazes me how many dems and libs who are completely against any type of amnesty or guest worker plan.
To: MarcusTulliusCicero
Since the House won't pass the bill, I don't think it will last that long for the really safe people. The ones on the fence maybe, but their liberal opponents would be even worse on the issue, and many others...
Everyone will calm down a bit, as long as the House doesn't cave. An enforcement only bill is what we need to get out of the Joint Cmte.

Can you imagine the outright and absolute chaos the entire world would fall into without the United States...? It boggles the mind to complemplate such a world.
To: RobFromGa
I'm not certain that the House won't pass it. I wish I remembered the link, but I remember reading about a month ago that Sensenbrenner will be outnumbered 3 or 4 to one during the reconciliation phase. And House Republicans are probably being informed that any campaign fund-raising with White House personnel is contingent on voting in support of the bill.
To: Alter Kaker
My sweet little HI D's. Oh, I will sweat blood in defeating them. Best case, it will result in another D, but, hell, with luck and work, at least Inouye and Akaka will need to find another parasitic living for some time.
