That's about it. Said they should be sealed until the confusion is worked out.
Thanks, I get that :) But why did 43 stick his oar in? Shouldn't the House's lawyers and/or Jefferson's been the ones to argue that?
Its above my pay grade
Again, Hastert's not stupid and he has more than half a brain.
It was his job to speak up as Speaker. He needs to safeguard the House for future generations. Imagine a Janet Reno ordering searches willy-nilly. They need to be careful about this or that could easily happen.
I'm glad Hastert spoke up. This is probably what caused Pres. Bush to seal the documents.
Jefferson will get what's coming to him. But the cautious steps here will insure that this incident doesn't become common practice.
GREAT POST!
The PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES................."IS" ...........the EXECUTIVE BRANCH of the FEDERAL government and as such he has the POWER to seal documents gathered under a duly authorized search warrant by the DEPT of JUSTICE/FBI.
It'll be summer by then and Congress-critters will be out of town. The prosecutors will not
He must be in agony right now. He probably wants to boot the can down the road like his father but he's got another 2 1/2 years. He has my spiritual support but the political loyalty rope is now the width of dental floss.
I think sealing it simply puts it all on hold for a while ..now executive and legislative branches can slug it out....

That would make it the judicial branch that has ordered I thought this was a court-ordered subpoena from last October.
the executive branch to obtain information under court order.
>>>I hate that commercial........>>>
I do too, but LOVE the Fat Bastard. Sorry, thought that was what you were referencing to.
Well, I'm really curious. Especially why 43 did it if someone else could and should have.
Do you want to see Jefferson walk??
That is what was being said last night on the news shows...because of the "raid"...
Perhaps, President Bush just saved the underlying case against Jefferson from going down the drain.
I am sure most Americans would rather see a corrupt politician go to jail....than worry about waiting 45 days while all of the "i"s are dotted and the "t" s are crossed.
BTTT
>>>Maybe that's because maybe he sucks on his immigration attitude and he goofs up alot lately.
maybe some posters here should look in the mirror.
Does it look like a DUer?
Does it talk like a DUer?
Does it walk like a DUer?
hmmm
Maybe it's a DUer>>>
OH, pardon me. I didn't realize that if you didn't agree 100% with every single idiotic thing the Republicans did, that it made a person a DUer.
My bad.
The President knows it"s NOT okay for Executive officers to forcibly seize and examine privileged legislative documents even if those officers are allowed to by a judge and aren't investigating a specific crime.
The usual minimalization procedures didn't work in this case.
The President has made a good start to correct this mistake.
Now that I think of it, if the answer to that is yes and a judge said no...Well, could that be why 43 did it?
Oh, boy....

Good take. I'd signed onto the Rovian Plot To Keep Jefferson In The Headlines take, but yours works well.
