American Legion in CA says “Enough,” Brings ADF Aboard To Defend Mt.Soledad Cross Against ACLU
Stop The ACLU ^ | 25-May-06 | Glib Fortuna

The decade-and-a-half assault by one, self-esteem challenged atheist with little more to do than spit on the memory of brave men who gave their lives to defend the freedom the ACLU regularly abuses has resulted in an unprecedented move by the California chapter of the American Legion. The largest veterans organization in the country will announce Thursday a line-in-the-sand campaign to protect veterans memorials from the shameful ACLU assault. Legal muscle is being provided by the Alliance Defense Fund. See the American Legion announcement:

THE AMERICAN LEGION DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA TO LAUNCH STATEWIDE DEFENSE OF VETERANS MEMORIALS AT MT. SOLEDAD, MAY 25, 2006

SAN DIEGO — The American Legion Department of California will hold a press conference on Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m., at the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial in San Diego to announce initiation of an unprecedented statewide Defense of Veterans Memorials Project of the California Department of The American Legion, including its support of efforts to preserve the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial.

I don't want to donate, I want to rejoin the American Legion, attaching a note to my dues praising their action.

Non veterans should donate, and veterans that aren't members should join.

Funny thing happened. When I tried to go to Roger Hedgecock.com through Google, his site didn't come up. But when I tried via Yahoo, it came up immediately! It just adds to the suspicion that Google is censoring conservative sites.

I joined up a couple of years ago. I think my renewal comes up in December. I'm glad the Legion is adding some firepower. It's time to stop pussyfootin' around with that jackassed federal judge.

Even conservative atheists should rally with Christians against the ACLU. Why? Because, should their dream world of state enforced atheism be forced upon the USA, it wouldn't be a conservative governmnet. The freedom loving conservative atheists are far outnumbered by the Communist non believers and would find themselves living in an oppressive Soviet style state.

Everyone including atheists are better off in a Christian nation like America because we believe in freedom of religion.

Can't someone simply buy the monument, thereby eliminating "state" control?

That's fine for this one monument. It doesn't fix the problem though. Stomping their a$$ in court, will fix it for all monuments, at least for a good long while.

They have tried at least 3 times that I know of to sell or donate the land and cross so that it wouldn't be owned by the city of San Diego. Each and every time, the atheist was back in court, charging that these proposed sales or donations violated the Constitution by giving favoritism to those who would keep the cross intact.

So that's why someone can't simply buy the monument. They have tried that, but the atheists sue again saying that the intended owners will still keep the cross, and somehow that's considered against the law by these judges.

I would love to see the John Roberts Supreme Court consider this case. Last year the Court before Roberts and Alito split 5-4 on having 10 commandments monuments in government hands. One case was 5-4 against them in a Kentucky court house, and the other was 5-4 allowing them on the public grounds of the Texas capitol building. Based on that reasoning, this could have a good chance of keeping the cross if this can go to the U.S. Supreme Court.
