I went to the vet. My cat had had kittens and we found homes for all of them within a day. Good homes. I asked my vet if there was birthcontrol for her so she could have a litter next year.

He insisted on spaying her.

Show cats and pedigreed cats go into season constantly???

Cha-CHING! Cha-CHING, cha-ching, cha-ching!

Gads, they NEVER stop thinking of ways to get into your wallet, do they?

And we employ them full-time, and give them pensions for stealing our jack...

AIDS costs society far more than stray cats. RI planning to neuter homosexuals?

The measure would require pets older than 6 months to be spayed or neutered unless owners pay $100 for a breeder's license or special permit. Violators would be fined $75 a month.

And how does the state expect to check to see if a cat is spayed/neutered if the animal does not go outside? What lunacy...

Marxist politicians should be chained to posts in the basement, whipped every Saturday in the public square and let out for exercise in alligator infested lakes.

I'm surprised they aren't requiring this for dogs, too.

If animal have rights, why don't they have the right to choose?

I am pro-choice for animals. I don't want to force my decisions on others. They have the right to determine what to do with their own bodies.

No surprise. RI is as left as possible while still being in the "United States".
They have nothing better to do than pass idiotic laws.

Makes sense for R.I. to reduce the population of cats thereby reducing the number of feral cats running loose. We have Mother Nature here controlling feral cats, they are called coyotes.

Statism is so far along, I think there's no stopping it. Pretty soon, we won't even be able to slow it down.

In my opinion this is good law. To allow cats and dogs to breed and then their offspring running loose, breeding more unwanted cats and dogs makes no sense at all.

We've adopted two dogs from a local animal shelter. Great pets. My question is why were they running loose? Makes no sense at all. They are now spayed, stay in a fenced yard and I never let them run loose.

There are plenty of animals to adopt; more than there are people will adopt them. Perfectly healthy cats and dogs are euthanized for no other reason than irresponsible owners.

"But some animal rights advocates worry the bill could prompt cat owners to abandon their pets rather than risk a fine or pay several hundred dollars for the birth control procedures."

These nanny-state jerks are never happy, are they? I guess it makes their pathetic little lives better to just wag their fingers at us.

For the record: 1) I am all for spay/neuter and practice it (with the cats) relentlessly, but 2) I don't want the state telling me what to do on this stuff.
