Do you really believe that many, or indeed any, "guest worker" that applies for full-time residency will be refused?

Maybe doing nothing legislative is preferable then. The House cannot make the Senate be conservative. In fact, we the people cannot even make the Senate change if we're not persuasive enough.

The key is Pence knows we HAVE to pass hr4437 or we will lose our majority. The Senate will NOT pick up hr4437 by itself.

The Senate will NOT pick up hr4437 by itself.

Yes, I understand that's what Pence and you believe. My point is that this belief is premature and unnecessarily defeatist.

And now, this bill, while no doubt well-meaning, has telegraphed to the senate that their game plan works. While their feet stay firmly planted, conservatives skid toward the euphemistic middle ground. So what do you think a Specter or mcCain or kennedy could rightfully take from that? There's now even less incentive to cede anything from their positions than there was before this plan was unveiled.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the doomsday scenario that Republicans will lose the majority if they don't pass HR4437. I think they're much more vulnerable if HR4437 gets rolled into something awful.

First off, there is no "Guarantee" that they will be able to come back under the Pence plan. They must have an employer willing to hire them plus there is a limit to how many visas are distributed. This is what gives illegals the incentive to return home so they could have a better chance of receiving a visa.

Second, after they work 6 years, they MUST GO HOME. The only way they can receive citizenship is to apply through the American way. Pence's plan has no route to citizenship because Mike Pence doesn't believe in amnesty.

When Pence says "this process will take 3-5 days" he is talking about the private companies running checks on these migrants so we will know if they are murderers or terrorists.

I don't believe that folks will be able to go home and come back within a week. It's going to take longer than that for us to build our wall once Pence's bill is passed. That comes first!!!!!

From Pence's speech:
“They recognize it is not logistically possible to round-up twelve million illegal aliens, put them on buses and conduct a mass deportation. It also is not realistic to think that some American businesses can operate without these workers. And, it is unreasonable to think that people who came to America illegally and found jobs will voluntarily leave those jobs and opportunities without knowing whether they can return legally....

... After the program is up and running, there will be a period of three years when the market and the needs of U.S. employers will set the limit on the number of guest workers. Not letting the market and the needs of employers govern the number of guest workers initially will prevent illegal aliens from being willing to self-deport.”

For the "first three years there will be no limits. In other words for "the first three years" anyone who has a job offer will be allowed in. It sounds like there is very little chance of anyone being refused. Not a guarantee perhaps, but a fairly sure thing.

“There also will be a limit on the amount of time a guest worker can spend in America. Guest workers will be allowed to renew their W Visas, but only for a period of up to six years. At that point, the guest should decide whether to return home or enter the separate process of seeking citizenship.”
So someone who is here illegally can go home, be almost certain of getting a visa and after six years apply for citizenship. Can you see any reason that a "guest worker" would be refused citizenship if the pursued it?

"All 'creative decisions' will be left to the discretion of the Artist." ...I think that's a 'RULE'.

When it comes to animating maggots, that's a rule I can live with, lol.
