"You do what you wish, I prefer to work within the Republican party to lead it to a more conservative point of view on issues." Agreed.

You've obviously never read my thoughts on the President or voting Republican. No matter. You've already made your mind up and cemented it shut with smarm. Talk about yer narrow minded and illogical zealots...

Nothing you have said in any way suggests that you are anything other than a one issue voter. You continually harp on Bush's failure on the issue of illegal immigration.

I happen to agree with you that much more needs to be done.

What I do not agree with, and will never agree with, is that a single issue should decide whether or not Bush is a failure as a President.

If you are not a one-issue zealot then you should have realized fairly quickly that this piece and my attitude was not targeting you. But, since it apparently hit close to home, perhaps you should examine what was said here more carefully.

One success does not rehabilitate someone who consistantly fails. One failure does not condemn someone who consisitantly succeeds. And a generous mix of the two is where most political efforts fall.

Friend, I suggest you go back and reread the progression of our exchange. I asked you to elucidate your big plan for dealing with illegal aliens. You, in turn, tried to cast me as an anti-Bush extremist willing to throw away real and significant progress over a single issue.

Sorry, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Read my bio - I always vote for Republican losers and have for decades. In addition, I have been politically active for well over 30 years. Have you?

In any event, your sneering dismissal of the extremely important issue of border incursion, terror and economic invasion is indicative of the monolithic mindset you seek to paste on your straw man opponents. The plain truth is, President Bush is dead wrong on this issue and he hasn't much of a fig leaf to cover his shame.

Like the Meiers nomination fiasco, this problem will not go away, nor should it. Mr. Bush deserves a spanking and that is exactly what the electorate should do. See, it's called a political dialogue; that'd mean two parties exchanging information to reach a lawful consensus. If he is wise, he'll heed the directions from his base in a timely fashion. If not, he'll lead the Republican Party into a serious setback precisely because he was elected to act on our behalf in accordance with the party platform directives and the charges of his executive office. Psst - here's a tip: borders and security are sorta big issues if you want to safeguard your lives and retain your national identity.

I guess its one of those things where you either get it or you don't.

First, it was a satirical piece and I was in a satirical mood. Asking someone for a deep discussion of policy issues on a thread like that is an example of tone-deafness in the context.

Second, my big plan is irrelevant as I hold no elected position. As for what I beleive would work, I believe that a Red Card/Green Card system would be most effective. The Green Cards would work as they currently do, the Red Cards would be 6 month work visas that are easily obtained. The restrictions I would then place would be:

1. Militarize the border
2. Establish and enforce laws that would restrict Red Cards from being issued to those who have
a. committed a felony in the U.S.
b. failed to leave the U.S. after expiration of their Red Card status at a prior time
3. Strengthen penalties for the hiring of illegals to include mandantory prison time under Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Third, the main point of the article was not illegal immigration, it was that there is no rational explaination for those who demand no failures from our elected officials. The fact that you brought up the issue of illegal immigration when that was not the topic of the thread was a strong indication to me that you felt that the issue was more important than the topic of my vanity.

Trust me, as pro-life as I am, if someone had brought up abortion as you did illegal immigration, I would have responded the same. Wrong venue for serious discussion, wrong context for serious discussion, wrong topic for the thread in general.

I no longer waste my time responding to the hysteric whining of the politically irrelevant Freeper Lunatic Fringe.

Yes, that talk radio worship surely eats up a lot of your time.

What did Rush or Tony have for breakfast today?

Was it something yummy that we all need to know about?

Your post may have been meant as satire but it was lopsided, ill informed and mocking. If you wished to be witty, you should've paid closer attention to the arguments of those you scorn. In that way, you might have made sense. As it was, you're merely another apologist harping against others more principled than yourself.

I hope I can be as principled as you one day and not stoop to being condescending or arrogant.

I hope so, too. Try to avoid mischaracterizing or labeling anyone that is critical of this administration on border control or any other issue. It is possible to vehemently oppose policy and not be an enemy of progress. Of course, you'll have to set aside your knee jerk prejudice.

Lol, you are tone-deaf, aren't you? Your condescension and arrogance is only surpassed by your knowledge that you are superior in everyway to everybody else.

If our culture and country are subsumed by an invading horde of illegal, unskilled, uneducated aliens whose main motivation is only to "better themselves," NONE of the items you mention matters at all, because the United States of America will be finished--and it could happen in 20-25 years.

If you were half as clever as you think you are, you'd be twice as clever as you are.

A lot of things can happen in 20 to 25 years to finish the United States of America. Does that mean Bush's failure on illegal immigration cancels any and all other successes? Many here would preach that as Divine Gospel, I think it is nonsense.

Yup, started after the 17th amendment was passed among other things.
