You show me a quote where he says that he ,"wants congressional offices off-limits for felony warrants."

Because my impression was that it had to do with the seperation of powers, specifically with regards to the seizure of certain materials from Jeffersion's office, and the fact that Congress wasn't informed.

" when he defended Jefferson"

First: He did not defend Jefferson, bribe taking scumbag. He was concerned --- rightly or wrongly --- about the executive branch interfering with the operations of the legislative branch. There is a huge difference.

Second: I strongly suspect this was a ploy to get the issue of William Jefferson, Democrat and bribe taker, on the front page and keep it there. Hastert will shortly say, "upon reflection, it certainly appears the FBI jumped through all the hoops necessary. . . . etc"

This will leave the Dims out there complaining about the search.

Right...and that in effect makes them off limits. Read the constitution. Felonies are exempt from congresssional protections. And it doesn't say they need to tell the leader of the house.

Please...if he really did that...I've just lost any respect I had left for him.

If he's playing with the consititution to get political advantage..then he's lowered himself to the Bill Clinton level of politics (possibly lower).

I said he was concerned with the seizure of Legislative documents. Congress certainly has no obligation to turn over any work product to the Executive branch. And you still never found me a quote, though, if you repeat your accusation vehemently enough someone might believe it. Fake but accurate just like our friends at ABC.

My position is he never said what you asserted. Which is why you can't find a quote to support it.

Sure he said it. Of course you have to be capable of abstract thought and be able to reason what the result of his position would mean.

It is becoming apparent that Hastert has more to cover than just the hindside of his fellow Congress-critters. I'll predict it here and now: Hastert will resign his leadership post withing 30 days.

Hastert was very quick to try to protect Jefferson, though... who's a Democrat. So what's the connection? Obviously, Hastert feels that being a Congressman is an entitlement to take bribes and not even be investigated for it.

I was trying to figure out where corruption stopped in the House; Denny-For-Dollars makes it clear it goes all the way to the top. You guys saw him. Hastert lined up with Nancy Pelosi, for bribery and against the rule of law. He must go.

OK, so ABC slimed him -- this time. Why's he so sensitive about it? The FBI *should* be looking into this fat ball of suet.

I've decided not to stay home this election after all. I am voting against all incumbents without regard to party. The Republican leadership (Hastert, Boehner [known for years as "Mr K Street" from his greed for lobbyist cash and gifts] Sensenbrenner) lining up with Jefferson proves that they're just as corrupt as he is. Throw them all out, not one deserves another day in DC.

If what Haster and Pelosi agree upon is true,

Then a subpoena isn't good enough to investigate the crimes of members of congress, but it's too good for them to need one to wiretap and investigate you.

Any questions?

ABC may have been wrong about the FBI, but Hastert has shown his colours. He is a bribe taker, or an enthusiast of bribe taking, by his own defence of the bribe taker. He must go.

It will be interesting to see how they cover the Harper Administration, then.

As I heard it explained on a Canadian talk radio show the other day, Harper's government will avoid the national media and instead, he's going to take his message on the road to less hostile local media outlets, as Harper says journalists on Parliament Hill are biased against his government and have decided to become the opposition to his Conservative administration. As the host said it's like what Bush's administration has to deal with day in and day out down in the States.
