Liberals have been screaming about this ever since the 55 limit was lifted back in '92 (or '94 maybe? I don't remember). The 55 limit was a joke to begin with .. almost nobody ever payed attention to it, not even the cops. An average of 65-70 on the Interstate's was always the norm around here, and still is (in NY at least, where the limit was raised to 65). The 'norm' is even higher in Western states, where 80+ is the average.

It's pointless, Hillary, to bring this outmoded debate to the table once again. It ain't gonna win her any political points with anybody except amongst the loony left fringe.

I remember my high school physics teacher explaining how the highway curves were engineered for certain speeds and if you messed with the speed limit, truckers would have to reduce the height of their loads to make the center of gravity appropriate for the curves. Shorter loads would mean less freight shipped per truck and you would need more trucks on the road to carry the same amount of freight. That said, am I remembering that right or not????

The last ticket I got was on the first day of the 55 enforcement for 57 in a 55 in Los Angeles.
