Further, such a request would be discriminatory, in as much as no other Member currently under federal investigation has been asked to step down from a substantive, legislative committee assignment.Possibly no democrat, but I seem to recall republicans resigning at the first whiff of scandal.

At first I thought this was an attempt to throw the race card out there but then I read on.
ALl I can ask is How about Tom Delay? Is not the HOUSE a legislative committee of sorts?

Ya know . . . I am a real skeptic . . . I suspect the Democrat leader called Rep Jeffereson and said "lets play this little game with the stupid public . . . I send a letter asking you to resign. I will not REALLY want you to resign but it looks better for me to ask. The media lets you off the hook, I appear to be a concerned democrat and the media gets back where they belong . . .attacking Georgie." I just can't give Pelosi credit for doing something reasonable.

This is such a transparent damage control move. They have this idiot dead to rights and he will probably end up making a deal so he can at least stay in the House.
As for all the flaming of Hastart, lay off boys and girls! I, for one, have great confidence in Denny. He's keeping the House majority in line on illegal immigration, and if you will recall he and Delay were the driving force on tax cuts way back beyond 9/11. There is a fine legal point in his argument that just may give way to legislation on House ethics. Let the man run with this, I have watched Denny work and he is very good at what he does without tipping his hand to the RED RATS and the Marxist Media.
There are some of us here at FR that react too quickly without listening, watching and remembering. Personally (putting on the aluminum foil hat) I'm thinking that a third of that is from RAT moles.
We are always accused by the hard left of being reactionaries (we know that this is projection, of course), lets not give them a cannon load to shot at us.
That being said, flame retardant suit in place and ready for the napalm!
