Authorities arrested several construction workers at North Carolina State's football stadium Tuesday, suspecting that they had entered the country illegally.
Several other workers at Carter-Finley Stadium ran from the stadium when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and state Highway Patrol officers arrived, said Lt. Everett Clendenin with the Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol had asked immigration agents to help them as they searched for a driver suspected of causing an accident that tangled traffic on Interstate 40 on Monday, Clendenin said. The driver was in a red 1993 Toyota that crashed into a Chevrolet van near the Wake-Durham county line, Clendenin said.
The van hit a concrete barrier and overturned across two lanes of the interstate, causing delays during early morning traffic, Highway Patrol troopers said. The driver of the Toyota jumped over a concrete barrier and fled, Clendenin said.
Highway Patrol officials tell Eyewitness News the driver, Reynalda Guitierres, 28, is in ICE custody. It appears that he will be deported.
During Tuesday morning's arrests, one of the suspects tried to grab an ICE agent's gun and faces more serious charges. No one was injured.
The old fieldhouse has been torn down and a new one is being built.
That rumor generation I support.
La Migra!
I just got a letter from the IRS, telling me I have to resubmit my 2001 tax return. They are holding our 2005 refund. The reason being a Maria Guiterrez is using my husband's social security number. They want us to pay taxes on her income. She paid $33.00 on $15K. I contacted S.S. they said nothing they can do for us but had me call Consumer Affairs an file a fraud report, also to call police in Thousand Oaks, CA where she lives. I have been unable to get to speak with anyone at IRS, always busy signal or been on hold up to an hour and half. I'm not paying this person's taxes, anyone ever heard of this happening?
$15K income? Tell them they owe you an Earned Income Tax Credit.
;-)
Finally got to a person today and he explained how the government has just given them the extra funding needed to go after people for these things. Our government at work for us. Now I am suppose to write a letter have our signatures notarized and they will decide if they will believe us.
I like how you think! Unfortunately, it would put us in a higher income bracket and we would owe penalties and interest from 2001 to present.
