AAaahhhh, another ditto head. LOL
Jefferson can be nonpartisan with Randy Cunningham or he can be in the cell opposite from him and "reach across the aisle." (snicker snicker)
To: Sir Gawain
What's too bad is that so many don't care that he is right.
What's a republic without idiots for citizens though? If we didn't have idiots for citizens we could be a democracy.

So Congress critters can have severed body parts in their congressional office fridge and even if the Feds KNOW it, the US CONSTITUTION's seperation of powers forbids the Feds from getting a court order to remove?
I'm no lawyer but this can't be right!!

They are not going after Congress, the idiot was caught on tape taking a bribe. They tried to get him to turn over papers, he did not. Just make like he is not a high and mighty member of Congress and imagine he is a Owner of a Crooked Car dealership. Would you object if his office was raided by the Police and D.A.'s Office? I don't think so. He is a normal(strike that) American Human Being and therefore subject to the same laws as you or I. He has not even been arrested yet. He's an elected official in Congress and that is all that matters. He has special exemptions. That's our system.

Ain't it the truth.
If the Executive, Judicial and Legislative Branches protected our rights and liberties as zealously as they protect their privileges and powers we wouldn't recognize the country.

But not in issues of Treason, Felony, or Breach of Peace

There was a warrant signed by a judge. Go yell at the Judiciary.

The acts of the House are not subject to any Executive or Judicial process. These weren't "acts of the House" in the exercise of its constitutional duties. These were the acts of a felon trying to cover up his criminal activities. Isn't there a difference?

But in their search they had to look through and examine the
legitimate papers it was hidden among.
That was the job of the "filter" team, which was composed of officers of the Executive Branch.

In other words .. all congress people are above the law ..?? I don't think so! To a limited extent, they are.
The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.Article 1 Section 6, Constitution for the United States.

A $100,000 Bribe is a felony offense methinks
Heck if I know why he's not been arrested
To: justche
What exactly is the Speech and Debate clause anyway?Art 1, Section 6., see my post above.
I do believe the CongressCritters are willfully ignoring the phrase starting with "except"

Why?
Doesn't the FBI/DOJ fall under the Executive branch?
I believe that the president is fully entitled to FBI files.
To: Rummyfan
Gonzales said they subpoenaed things and Jefferson didn't comply with the subpoena.

Your point is valid too, but when are we going to show half the shrewdness of the other side and play some hardball politics?
It is a total embarrassment for us to allow a seriously wounded minority democratic party to be successful in sidetracking our adgenda day after day.
Almost every issue is an opportunity to stuff the dems and our side bungles it. We need new leadership. Starting with limp wrist Frist. Politically speaking, I'd trade you two Frists for one Ried any day of the week.
To: tongue-tied
Apparently the FBI as a section (branch?) of the judicial The FBI is part of the Justice Department, which is an Executive Branch department, not part of the Judicial (ie. Courts) branch of the FedGov.
