A 78-year-old woman has reached her final destination after dying while on a cross-country flight.

Officials with Delta Airlines said the woman died on a flight to Salt Lake City over the weekend.

According to the flight crew and passengers, no one realized she had passed away until after the plane landed.

Flight attendants said they only realized what had happened once the plane began to empty out.

One EMT at the scene said the woman was dead long enough for rigor mortis to set in.

An autopsy is being performed to determine how the woman died.

Sad but, at 78, she lived a full life...I can only hope to live that long.

She was probably waiting for her second bag of peanuts.

A second bag. Second!

Not nice for the flight crew but not a bad way to go.

Damned if they do, damned if they dont. If she looked like she was sleeping and her seatbelt was being worn. How would the flight attendant know?

No one realized she died. It seems to me we should all wish to pass so peacefully.

The report claims this raises 'important questions.' No it doesn't, old people croak.

Rigor mortis? Then it's likely she died early in the flight. Blame the stress of travelling.

Unless, of course, the strip search at the security check was too much excitement for her.

Sounds like the line at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

When I die I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers on his bus.

Never underestimate the stupidity of an American jury. John Edwards didn't,and he's now a multi-millionaire.

I just went to the funeral last weekend of the mother of a coworker of mine. She had been in a nursing home for a decade due to Alzheimer's disease. By the time she died, she couldn't speak or remember anyone or anything. He and his siblings were relieved that her suffering was over.
