Wow, I thought he was older than 85 back in 1988.

Bentson just became a "good Democrat".

He will forever be remembered for his cheap-shot attack on Dan Quayle.

As far as I'm concerned he can rot in hell.

RIP - it's a shame Lloyd got mixed up with the liberal rats toward the end.

Bentsen beat George Bush Sr. in the 1970 Senate race. Then Bush got his appointments from Nixon and Ford, which built his resume to run for president, which led to Reagan picking him, which led to his own presidency and the current presidency.

Had Bentsen lost, who would be president now?

Actually he was a pretty nice guy.

But he had really bad taste in political parties.
Rest in peace Lloyd.

Lord Lloyd, R.I.P.

Proof that snappy insults do not a winning campaign make.

Former Congressman Lloyd Bentsen dies at 85

And all this time, I thought he was a Senator.

"Lloyd Bentsen, a courtly Texan"

"Courtly"??? Perhaps by the standards of the Associated Press. By all other standards, Bentsen was about as courtly as his fellow Democrat John Nance ("The vice presidency isn't worth a pitcher of warm spit") Garner.

I recall in a speech he referred to "the wetbacks", and the press downplayed it, saying the term was a local colloquialism and had no negative connotations to Mexican illegals. RIP 'Llord'...
