Excessive growth of government (spending) and abandonment of border control have been Bush's undoing as far as the Republican base is concerned. Both of these areas have been completely within Bush's control. Bush has sold us out, and he has only himself to blame (unless this had been his plan all along).

Both of these areas have been completely within Bush's control. Although I agree that the President could have been more aggressive in these areas, to say he has complete control is just silly.
