Funeral Protest
By DANYA BACCHUS (SEAFORD, DE -- WMDT)
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Seaford, Delaware, many holding flags and showing their American pride for fallen solider Corporal.
But others weren't as patriotic.
While family and friends gathered to pay their final respects to fallen solider Corporal Cory Palmer, only blocks away was the scene of a protest.
Members of Westboro Baptist Church traveled all the way from Topeka, Kansas to protest.
Holding signs saying thank God for dead soldiers and God is America's Terror, "and you defy God and you spit in God's face and you teach your children to spit in God's face by pursuing adultery and fornication. And every type of unclean thing and going to war on the side of a country like the United States."
Nine people showed up to protest hundreds of others joined together to show their support for Corporal Cory Palmer and the United States and here's what they had to say.
"What these people are doing here ain't right because he died for his country, its just not right."
"Strangely enough why our soldiers go to foreign countries is to give those people the exact right to protest. But I most certainly think at a wake of a young man who gave his life for the country is not the appropriate time."
"We didn't understand why they would bring such an agenda to such a, hum to such a hero's burial."
As you can imagine tensions ran high during the protest.
Some people were even able to break through the police and charge the protestor's van, breaking a couple of windows.
There were no serious injuries.
And while the protestors may have traveled far to spread their message, the only message for most in Seaford was that Corporal Cory Palmer was a true American Hero.
Tensions reached a peak about 2:55 p.m. when one man stormed through a barricade and attacked one of the demonstrators, punching him several times. Commotion followed, but no one was seriously injured.
"Carry your sorry asses back to Kansas!" one man shouted to the demonstrators from across the street. People driving cars and trucks -- many waving American flags -- drew cheers from onlookers as they passed, drowning out the demonstrators.
Ping!
Phelps and crew can carry their sorry asses to a hole in the ground: we don't want them in Kansas either.
Westboro Baptist Church protest members are sickening.
I'm all for Freedom of Speech, but these scum need to be silenced.
the phelps/gore connection:

"During the 1992 presidential election, Fred Phelps and Fred Phelps Jr. led the members of Westboro in campaigning around the state of Kansas for Bill Clinton and Al Gore; Fred Phelps Sr. would later state in fliers that he did so with the belief that Gore would fall under WBC's political influence should he and Clinton win the election."

AS MY GRANDFATHER USED TO SAY,"YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP".
Who's paying for the Phelps crew to travel all over the country??
There has got to be a legal way to make the lives of these scum really unpleasant.
When I was telling my husband about this, his reaction was "Put me on that jury." As far as he's concerned, and I concur, no jury will convict those that were arrested, or at worse they will get a slap on the wrist.
I'm sorry that the situation escalated the way it did, but as far as I'm concerned those people (Phelp's crew) brought it upon themselves.
Another group of Satan worshipers dressed in the garb of Christianity.
I pray God has a fast one-way ticket to he!! for him and his group. I can't see God being very happy with him. Can you imagine having to go in front of God with his sick nonsense. I would not want to be him when he visits God. Although, God will probably just look at him and Phelps and group will know they are screwed (I am trying to be clean somewhat in this post. I spelled out the real word I wanted to put there, but changed my mind.)
They are sick. A friend's son (a Marine)from my hometown (in Indiana) is being buried today. My Mom says that the motorcycle crew are there. He didn't get killed in Iraq. He was killed after he returned. Do they protest even if they weren't killed in Iraq/Afghanistan?
My Mom was quite impressed with the number of Marines that are up there from NC showing support.
Phelps was on WDEL's morning news last week - I wanted to throw my speaker against the wall listening to him whining about how he and his followers are victims of hate speech and death threats.
Their 1st amendment rights were protected by the city of Seaford.......they held their protest..........and were severely outnumbered by outraged folks. News estimates I have read say there were 9 of them and between 1,000 and 2,000 against them.
Me thinks it will be very difficult for them to win any case in a Delaware court.....
You are so true
Galatians 5:16-26
16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
How was your trip to Deleware this weekend?
" we don't want them in Kansas either."
No kidding, I'm glad they are not from Iowa, we have enough problems with our image.
