PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's this morning, and GWB went for a mountain bike ride. The first couple also made a brief television appearance to congratulate the new Iraqi government. Here are the President's brief remarks:
THE PRESIDENT: The formation of a unity government in Iraq is a new day for the millions of Iraqis who want to live in freedom. And the formation of the unity government in Iraq begins a new chapter in our relationship with Iraq. This morning, I called the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker to congratulate them on working together to form the unity government. I assured them that the United States will continue to assist the Iraqis in the formation of a free country, because I fully understand that a free Iraq will be an important ally in the war on terror, will serve as a devastating defeat for the terrorists and al Qaeda, and will serve as an example for others in the region who desire to be free.

We are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. This week has been very hard with my older brother dying last Sunday.Have you seen the prayer thread for you, your husband and family? I hope it brings you a measure of comfort.
Your puppy is probably better off over with your granddaughter for now. As you say, she's a bundle of energy and probably needs a lot of attention. :)

It's an interesting shot...not sure what the look on his face means. But I'm glad to see he and the Pres are still hanging out :)

It certainly shows that there was no truth in the rumours that GWB "sacked" him.

Hi Maj, you're welcome. That first photo is funny. I deliberately posted the Andy Card one next so everyone could see that Andy looked exhausted after doing a bike ride with his former boss. ;-)

Definitely. I think Andy always understood that while he was Chief of Staff, he was working for the Pres and once he left, they could really do more friends things.

I was out at Barnes and notsoNobel the other day, and the whole front rack was covered with anti-Bush books. Made me so mad I told the clerk about it and left.
