That 85% figure should be considered derived in the context of having to vote in a way to follow the Dem party line. Certainly some of those votes could be considered "throw aways" to achieve other objectives. The only thing Joe has in common these days with the Dems is a pro labor bent which in certain cases is given short shrift by the Repubs.

Lieberman has something like an 85% liberal vote ranking and the democrats aren't happy? Lieberman is against Islamofascism and supports Israel's right to exist. This makes him unacceptable to many Democrats.
