I only wish the GOP would have permitted this type of challenge when Tomey was threatening to unseat Specter in the Pennsylvania primary in 2004. Democrats devour anyone to the right of Hillary while RINOs are a protected species.

Let's trade the Democrats for Lieberman.
Dems get Arlen Specter, free and clear.
Republicans get Joe Lieberman.

Lieberman - who cares. He's another DeomcRat at his core. No big lose. In fact, the Dims lose seniority if they boot him.
To: nj26
Lieberman has something like an 85% liberal vote ranking and the democrats aren't happy?

As much as I like Joe's support for the liberation of Iraq, he is still a Democrat, and I would rather have a Republican challenger face Lamont than Lieberman in the general election.

Is there something wrong wirh Connecticut? Whether it is more than expected or not, 33% anywhere else is still a failure.

You think if Joe isn't nominated, he would jump ships? Prolly not. Run as an independent?

Who's running on the Republican side in this? Could be an opportunity here for them.

So much for the smoke and mirors the DNC spew about being "centrist" and representing the American people. They my cave to the radical left on this one which may lose the seat entirely.

Article: By now, the Lieberman crowd was beaten, even with 65 percent of the vote.
This entire article is spin. Lieberman won with a 30% margin. And he's beaten? Puh-leeze. I'm not a Lieberman fan, but it sounds like the writer is a Republican liberal (of the Christine Whitman persuasion) prematurely cheering on Lieberman's political demise.

This is another example of the Bolshecrats devouring the moderate Democrats. I don't understand why the moderates don't recognize this and continue
solidarity with the Demoviks. The moderates would be better off switching parties than to be picked off by the looney left. In the primaries the loonies start off with 50%. The Dummycrats need only pick up 10% of the middle to win in the general election. A good Republican should be able to knock off a Despicable candidate.
