First of all, are you even slightly interested in the fact that I don't agree at all with the guestworker program, and that I think that President Bush has been very slow to respond to this national crisis?

Does the truth matter to you, or are you having more fun in your fantasy world, with its trite little put downs?

Just curious.

The military is no place for Prima-Donna spouses.

The military is no place for spouses like you who go out of their way to continually bash another for no good reason.

Where in the world are you getting the idea that I don’t support my husband, the military, or the war on terror? I never said anything remotely like this.

Just because I don’t think Bush is doing a good job, overall, doesn’t warrant a personal attack on me!

Some wonderful example of military spouse you turn out to be!

I believe that people are referring to backstabbing the President, not individuals here. That has nothing to do with whether or not someone wishes to receive freepmail from people who are attacking them personally.

It doesn't much matter to me. If I happened to tell you to take it public, for example, it merely means that I don't like to waste my time responding to people individually in freepmail. I don't always have a lot of time on the computer, myself.

"I couldn't understand how an extremely conservative and decorated veteran could chose Kerry over Bush. "'

Uh-uh, sure.

Another one:

The new 'Republicans vote on Wednesday' game (FR Mentioned) (article full text)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1613957/posts?page=87#87

We’ve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: “Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Don’t forget to vote! Wink, wink.” Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such “friendly reminders” are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you haven’t voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)

But there seems to be a new “Republicans vote on Wednesday” taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

The premise follows a scheme previously found most often on talk radio programs: a liberal activist calls a conservative radio host, such as Rush Limbaugh or Laura Ingraham, and delivers the line: “I’ve been voting Republican for 30 years, but I’ve finally had it and I’m not voting this year.” Or my favorite: “I’m a Reagan Republican, but I’m fed up and voting for John Kerry.” (Because that is what Reagan Republicans would do, vote for John Kerry.) At this point, the host usually asks a couple of questions and it becomes painfully obvious that the supposed Reagan Republican has probably never voted for anyone left of Michael Dukakis.

The intentions are clear: the caller hopes to make it appear as though there is already a large uprising of conservatives who are rebelling against GOP candidates, and thus, wishes to incite other Republicans to pick up the same attitude and pass it along, leading to the Democrat becoming more competitive. The successes of such a strategy on voting habits are unclear, especially given that the conservative radio host often refutes the caller’s talking points.

But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.” They then point to an issue that conservatives would likely be upset about such as excessive spending, immigration, or the expansion of government. Their supposed rage over the issue has convinced them to either not show up to vote in 2006, or, in order to really show Republicans, vote for the Democrat instead.

No good reason?

Try reading your own posts....they're all about 'Me,me,me,me,me,me,me!"

While the likes of you who are whining about how terrible their lives were while their husbands are/were on the battle front means their husbands cannot give their full attention to what danger they themselves and others around them are in which usually results in someone being killed. Our son, our nephew and the son of our very good friend for instance among the 2000+ who came home in flag draped coffins.

Ah, the old, "elect Clinton and after 4 years the people will hate him anad put in a conservative" line.

This is the EXACT thing I heard in 1992, from those who were mad at the first President Bush. How well did that work?

Well, Clinton had EIGHT years, not 4, and in those EIGHT years he managed to take a wrecking ball to the military, sell secrets to China, entrench his people in the middle management of the civil service, promote abortion, stab several allies in the back, and ramp up a war in Yugoslavia.

Some lesson the Americans learned. Clinton is STILL loved by quite a few Americans, and the elctorate has NOT moved to the right.

The definition of making the same mistake over and over again is INSANITY.

Spouses like you (not all, very thankfully!) have always had a special place in your heart for spouses like me.

Spouses like you never stood by our side. You never supported us, you never extended your hand in friendship, you were never kind to us, you never offered any guidance or assistance or advise, and it is apparent now that you never will.

From all the reservist wives who strongly and proudly stood by their man and county while enduring financial hardship due to loss of civilian income and having virtually no family support structure of any kind that spouses like you are conveniently afforded and have obviously taken for granted: Thanks...for nothin’.

I would be interested in knowing whether the persecution of reservists you are describing is system wide, cofined to your base/post, or is simply something you have perceived individually.

I certainly hope some othr military wives, both active and reserve, show up and clarify this issue.

By the way, the last post sounds to me very self-centered, in which you are complaining about slights to you, personally, from nameless wives. I have not seen that aspect from any military person who posts on this forum, but I could be quite wrong.

I'm not sure where the Hillary or the NSA stuff came from. Are you sure you replied to the correct message?

In regards to being critical of some of the republican actions I take it you aren't involved in any local, state or national party events because I will assure you the vitriol I've heard at the local and state level makes us "whiners" here on FR seem very, very tame. Rightly or wrongly people who have made pretty big sacrifices and expended a lot of effort are feeling a little betrayed. I'm sure calling them Hillary lovers will immediately bring them back into the fold.

So when was the last time you worked for the party and at what level? You talked to anyone who worked with you lately? They all whiners that are all warm and fuzzy over Hillary or are they all peachy keen with everything the republicans are doing and think the party platform is only so much detritus to be trotted out as raw meat to the foot soldiers and then put away until the next cycle?

If they're all peachy keen with everything I've got to tell you, they are not at all like the 700+ plus I've talked to over the last 12 months. None of us are voting for democrats but to a one we're wondering why we work for a party that doesn't seem to share our values and how are we going to get pumped up and enthused to put in the time. It's one thing to believe in something and be passionate about it, they kind of go hand in hand and the wonderful thing is that the passion is actually contagious.

It's a wee bit harder to get pumped up because you think your guy sucks less than the other guy.

But then I guess they're all just Hillary lovers like me. Man, are we the scum of the earth. All we want to do is elect democrats and we've been sleeper moles in the republican party for decades.

But I sure fooled a lot of people for a long time. Maybe I'm not as stupid as you think I am.

President is NOT perfect...and has done some things that make me pretty angry.

But at this point in time....I'm proud to have him as President. IF for no other reason than his response to 9/11....and his steadfastness in hunting down all those who would fly airplanes into buildings.

Thankfully the likes of you are very few and far between. We welcome wives of N'Guardsmen and Reserves every day into our support groups and most continue to join us after their spouses come home

You obviously didn't make any effort seeking out those in the same position you. You preferred to play the 'Pity Poor Me' role instead

Well, initially I was interested but it only took you 8 posts to say what you really feel about the issue.

Does the truth matter to you, or are you having more fun in your fantasy world, with its trite little put downs?

So far what absolute truths have you been espousing? The fact that you love President Bush?

As far as having fun, yes, I enjoy political satire and sarcasm. I consider it one of the spices of life. Whether or not my humor is too acerbic for you is not my concern. If you find it uncivil then you may be on the wrong forum.

I have been posting on Freerepublic since before 1998. Back then all types of conservative political discourse was fair game. It is much tamer and more mainstream now. Unfortunately as the forum has grown it has become more homogenized and middle of the road. You may find comfort in it but many of us find nothing wrong with it up a bit in political discourse. To paraphrase one of the founding fathers "Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice".

I Agree. Bush's "amnesty" program is insane. We tried amnesty back in 1986 and it didn't work then either.

I was stating an unfortunate, well-known fact.

There is a long-standing system-wide prejudice within the military that reservists are the “b*stard stepchild of the military”. The vast majority of reservist wives who have had their spouse deploy will tell you they have experienced this kind of prejudice and personal attacks at least once. None of what is happening here today really surprises me. Unfortunately, the soldiers themselves get it a lot more than we do.

After you posted the awful comment you did accompanying the picture of President Bush, you are the king of vitriol, ray.

You have made it impossible for me to respect you, because you were both ignorant and evil at the same time.

There's nothing you can do to change that, except repent and apologize.
