I'm just guessing here, but I'd be willing to bet that they were mostly compliments, and kind words about your parentage. Does that about sum it up?

I don't know how prevalent THAT was, but I suppose that it was common enough to have become an accurate stereotype..

In my case it was different; he was not a big man, but he was in superb condition. I don't think he flirted with the girls... He hated them, he hated weaklings (as I was way back then) and only barely tolerated the sports heroes of the school... and then only when they performed to perfection. He beat the crap out of them if they lost a game even worse than he beat us smaller kids.

Hutchinson is a recruiter not a Drill Instructor. No such thing as a drill sergeant in the Marine Corps.
