I was being a little bit facetious. That guy is one of the worst of them out there and, were he my senator, I might actually be willing to vote Democrat, just to get rid of him.
(But instead, I'm in New York and have no representation in the Senate at all)
What I'd REALLY like to see is a credible opposition party, but that doesn't seem to happen. Most countries seem to have at least one socialist party. Which sort of narrows down the options.
As for Specter, he's WAY better than a DEM. Look at all the party line votes on the judiciary committee.
