A call for reports from the NRA convention. I've recieved one that says that Taurus is displaying a new titanium 6 1/2" .41 magnum. I know that freepers are there. How about some on site reports?
Homer Simpson drool
I'm working there all day tomorrow and Sunday. I'll report if I see or hear anything good.
Looking forward to your posts...ping me.
D'oh! Never thought of that. Plus it's in a caliber that's relatively hard to get ammo for.
If you get a chance look for the FN display and ask when a civilian version of the SCAR (SpecOps Combat Assault Rifle) will be available.
FNC reported from the convention a while ago. It was very good. They centered the piece on the petition Wayne La Pierre is circulating around to mayors regarding a promise not to try to confiscate guns during emergencies.
Some very cool displays of historical arms and gun collectors.
Lasermax will be coming out with a laser sight for the Ruger P series semi-autos this year. (This is the laser sight that replaces the recoil spring guide rod.)Something I've been waiting a long time for.
Leopold has a new scope with an objective lens so big, they cut a notch out of the bottom of the lens to make room for the barrel.
There are thousands of guns, and you can handle ALL of them. Very cool.
That's about all I can think of.
I'll be in the NRA Store all day tomorrow, so stop by and say "hi". I'll be wearing a green long sleeve shirt with a brown collar and my name tag says Brad.
I didn't see any SCAR's, but the FS2000 was there and they should start shipping in July. It's disassembly and construction is unlike any other firearm.

You know how it is when you go to a gun show hoping to see all kinds of interesting guns, but instead you see the exact same beat-up guns on display that you saw at the last gun show?
This wasn't anything like that. Thousands and thousands of brand new guns, some models not even for sale yet, just begging you to pick them up, look them over, check out the trigger action.... Oh, it was heaven.
I even jokingly whipped out my credit card after handling a yet-to-be-released Rock River Arms AR-10 (.308), asking for it to be wrapped up. (no guns were allowed to be sold at the show)
I must have pulled at least 100 different 1911 triggers, and checked the fit of an equal number of slides.
One thing I did see, Ruger has a new Scout version of the M77 rifle in .308. (Not for sale yet.) It's a compact rifle with a long eye relief scope mounted forward of the breach. I understand it's supposed to be compact, but the stock was just way to short for me.
I did get to meet US Senator Larry Craig. He came through my register line. Very cool.
I hope to get to the meeting in St Louis next year. If I do, I'll make sure to leave time to see the displays.
Worked the air gun range on Saturday. There was a steady stream of people, and not just kids!, throughout the afternoon.
The floor was a bit crowded but not unlike other conventions so it wasn't so bad. There was a long line for Ted Nugent who was signing autographs and another long one at the Glock area for R. Lee Ermey. Larry Potterfield, the founder of Midway USA, was there as well and the other reloader guys were there in force also.
All in all, a pretty good show.
