Says it all, doesn't it?.
If India truly had secular government Hindus would not be second class citizens in their own country.
India would have no need for anti-conversion laws if Hindus were not persecuted in their own country. There would be no reason for a Hindu to "convert." As it is, I am truly surprised more don't claim to be Christian or Muslim.
Where's Mother Teresa when you need her? A great lady, indeed. Too bad most of the Christian missionaries in India ignore her example.

"If India truly had secular government Hindus would not be second class citizens in their own country." Several people --- apparently with first-hand experience --- have asserted this, but I don't understand it.
From what I have read on this thread, India is troubled by both Islamic groups and Christian groups who are organizing, agitating or arming and fighting for some kind of regional/national "liberation" --- to set up their own regimes-- in other words they are subversives and rebels and/or terrorists.
IF this is the case, then why would the govt. of India favor the Muslims and Christians, and disfavor/offend the Hindus, who are the vast majority of the population?
What kind of sense does this make?

What is wrong with your entire argument is that you think people convert only because they want to change their lot in THIS world. No, people convert to Christianity, to Hinduism, to Islam etc., in the hopes of improving their lot in the next world. A Hindu would "convert" if he truly believes his soul will be saved through Christ, a Christian would convert only if he truly believes he can escape the cycle of birth and rebirth through Hindu teachings.
