Prime Minister Stephen Harper says news reports that Iran could require Jews and Christians to wear coloured labels in public might be true.
He says Iran's hardline Islamist government has proven itself capable of such extreme actions.
He called a law allegedly being considered in Iran a mind-boggling reminder of Nazi German practices.
He says reports that Iran is considering a law to force Jews to wear yellow labels, and Christians red ones, are a reminder to the world that Iran must never gain nuclear weapons.
He made the remarks at a news conference with Australian Prime Minister John Howard.
Both leaders said they could not confirm the reports. But Howard said colour-coding clothes by religion would be repugnant.
Some day I hope we get a real conservative President like Stephen Harper or John Howard (rather than a comprehensive, compassionate one).
What would Yossi Beilin do?
Would Canada join the coalition of the willing?
(((.)))
Still building up our military- 13 years of Liberal rule has taken its toll. Our best troops are busy kicking Taliban butt...
via Malkin: Reports may not be true!
"But independent reporter Meir Javdanfar, an Israeli Middle East expert who was born and raised in Tehran, says the report is false.
Its absolutely factually incorrect, he told The New 940 Montreal.
Nowhere in the law is there any talk of Jews and Christians having to wear different colours. Ive checked it with sources both inside Iran and outside.
And sniping for the scout squads...
So the short answer is No? What about Joint Task Force 2?
So they do it without one. We should watch and see.
PM Harper, you're a breath of fresh air!
"Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."
The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims."
It has not become law yet. But it may. (though I doubt it due to all the publicity it's getting)
Grab any occasion to take a swipe at Bush, even statements by one of his foreign leader supporters. Sheesh, you're as bad as the moonbat, Michael Moore Left!
PING!
What's your view on what you think the mission of the "coalition of
the willing" will be??
Will the same team of planners who were responsible for considering
post invasion contingencies be responsible for this initiative?
We'd love to be with you, but we're can't afford to piss away financial
and human resourses on poorly planned exercises..
No I am talking only a division or two. I think it would be in Canada's best interest to have a nuclear free Iran.
Of course you don't have financial or human resources. That's what America is for "eh?" How else could your country sit on the side lines, point fingers, make token contributions, and pat themselves on the back?
Yes, we have only been in Afghanistan with you since the beginning of 2002.
Thanks for noticing...
What a dumbarse...
Not since "the" beginning. I don't recall seeing any Canucks riding in on horseback with our SF guys. Then when you decided to get in on the action, your country of 30 million contributed less than 300 soldiers. Gee thanks Canada.
I will say that I'm pleased with what I see from Harper so far, but as for smug, sanctimonious, Canadian nationalists such as your self, take your snide comments about the US and shove them up your "dumbarse."
