...Getting into France just got harder

Sarkozy's reform bill will "stiffen the rules for immigrants in France, establish a sort of quota system and let authorities cherry-pick who gets in - such as doctors, computer whizzes or sports stars." (Independent Online, South Africa) "The bill, which also makes it difficult for immigrants already in France to have their families join them, is expected to go to the [French] Senate for final approval in June." (BBC)

Sarkozy himself is the son of a Hungarian immigrant. Promoting his reform proposal, Sarkozy had earlier said that "We can't keep welcoming to France everyone who wants to come and to whom we can offer neither housing nor employment." (Le Figaro)

There are stupid to go to France when they can just come here and get amnesty. They don't need to be doctors, computer whizzes or sports stars either. Lettuce pickers, busboys, and crack whores are all equally just as welcome.

"It is a sad day when FRANCE has mores stones in protecting itself and its sovereignty than the USA."

That's true, but it's also true that most of France's immigrants are Moslems who sit around in ghettos collecting benefits with 50% of them unemployed when they aren't rioting. Most of ours are Hispanics who work hard.

I like to think we'd be responding more forcefully if we had Moslems instead of Mexicans.

The measures will require immigrants to sign a contract to learn French civics, respect their republic, learn French.

On chain migration, they must prove they have enough resources to support family members and that they will not become wards of the state.

Foreign spouses will have to wait 3 years (up from 2) before being able to apply for permanent resident status. And they have to wait four years to apply for citizenship.

More in the article.

I guess we could take a lessons from the French on this one. Funny how much their new policy under Sarkozy reflects exactly the conclusions reached by Jeff Sessions and by the Heritage Foundation on the disastrous results of vast migrations of unskilled workers.

Let's learn from France before it's too late.

Stupid to assume they can come here because France is tightening up to where we are now. But then emotive flaming out inplace of reason is the base of all posting by the Perpetual Whiners so I suppose we should expect no different.

Gee what does this make 15,000 posts screaming EXACTLY the same thing? Suppose the Whine All The Time choir could find a new rant? This one is getting OLD and tiresome.

I think their horrific losses in WW I should give the French a LITTLE bit of slack on the WW II issue.

The WW II campaign in France was over as soon as Rommel slipped his tanks unnoticed through the Ardennes and over the Meuse River. At that point, due to poor generalship and the too-short Maginot Line the Battle for France was over before it had even begun. There were no significant forces between Rommel and Paris.

"If they are cheese-eating surrender monkeys, what does that make us?"

Worse.

Say what you will, the French ruling class has a sense of national identity and care for its citizens. Most of our Ruling classes are set for globalism and wage depression. It juices up their investment returns in the short run.

That's the core concern. Feelings like "tolerance" and "compassion" for others - not other Americans but foreigners - are dealt to make the injury sound better and induce guilt-ridden submission. Left wing has been successfully coopted, running with delusional anti-Bush memes and pet hates distracting them from the core economic issues such as wages, costs and taxes. Some snarky people on the Right have not been assimilated into the collective, but Bush is trying his best. I don't think pointing out to the Left Media that one of their favorite countries, France, is working to help its people will do any good on immigration, opposite to us. They are too wrapped up into Bush Derangement Syndrome, recently enhanced by the tacit and scary realization they are hand in hand with Bush on this issue.

At any rate, they are about to have an election. They're just making laws to help the incumbents. They won't enforce the new "tough immigrant" laws.

Are you speaking of France, or the US?

Look at Mexico, even they have more. They beat the hell out of the Guatemalans if they cross into Mexico.

We need to pass a Constitutional Amendment with the EXACT WORDING of Mexico's Article 33.
