Support John Jacob in the primary, a pro illegal immigration congressman must be voted out of office for President Bush and these wussy Republicans get the message
To: TheEaglehasLanded
It's a shame that this didn't happen to Mike DeWine. Or for that matter (looking back into the past), to Arlen Specter.
So close...
Good. I like seeing a few upsets in the primaries.

If you don't have a real Republican running in your district, you might consider supporting a conservative running against some of the "moderate" leadership.
Like, say,
this guy, running in the primary against David Dreier.
Send him a few bucks. In terms of making your opinion known, a twenty dollar donation is worth about four hundred phone calls to your average RINO representative.

Should be an interesting race. I expect though that Rep Tancredo meddling in this race is going to backfire though both in that race and for the reaction of his collegues in the House.

McCain meddled in this race, and it was Mccain's candidate that came in second.

Cannon has a 100 ACU rating for the years 2004 and 2005; lifetime rating of 97.
Clearly this is NOT a prime example of the type of Republican to replace in the primary.
Clearly Cannon is a dependable conservative, with a record. He voted FOR House bill 4437. This challenger is an unknown.
Incumbancy means money and name recognition. Unless this challenger has a lot of both, he is doomed.

If Cannon had all this going or him, how come an "unknown" defeated him 52-48 at the Republican nominating convention?

Hmmmm, We shall see. Republicans can and should oppose people in the Primary if they wish too. The key is coming together after the race. I am hoping cannon wins but if not I hope his opponent wins the general election.
That being said I do think its inappropriate for a congressman from the same party from a whole other State to give financial support and active backing against a fellow Republican colleague. That is something that should be very discouraged. If Tom Delay was still in the House Leadership Tancredo would have been punished for doing this. I cant think of a time this has happen before.
The way that both Cannon and Tancredo have acted toward each other in public is ridiculous and counter productive to the party as a whole.

You obviously know all the local details much better than I do. So you know the answer to your own question, and I do not.
These types of efforts usually fail, because of incumbency, name recognition and money disparity.
If the incumbent has perfect ACU ratings, the opponent is grasping at straws to show Cannon is not a good conservative.
That makes it hard for this outsider to see why the convention voted as they did. Often it is local party infighting, other local officeholders jockeying for power, etc.
Whatever happens locally, please don't open the door for a democrat.

Voting in the primaries for conservative candidates is a much better way for those disgusted with senate republicans, rather than boycotting the polls.

Forgot about Matheson. I wonder if their is any possibility he could go? Liberal Chet Edwards is running against a much better man in Texas...it would be nice to see Edwards get fluched as well.

Thanks for the link. A combat veteran decorated for valor. How unusual for a Republican candidate: most of them were too good to serve in any capacity.

Cannon, who has survived two previous primaries, defended his stand on immigration, saying any solution will be complicated and nuanced.
Oh, Cannon is so dead.
Buh-bye.

{Forgot about Matheson}
Matheson's district went for Bush by 30+ points over sKerry. It is shameful that a RAT is holding a deep red district hostage. we have that nut case, Merril Cook, to thank for.

If I lived in southern Utah, I would definitely vote for Jacob.
If there are any Freepers who live in Chris Cannon's district, they should get some John Jacob for Congress yard signs.
