Bush and company are beginning to act just downright strange on this issue. Someone somewhere has threatened him or something. I just don't get their position. He's totally turning his back on Americans. The Mexican politicians are dictating our border policy. Very strange.

What's really strange is how the media and the left wing blogs are trying to balance Bush/Rove-hate with the reality they are on the same side.

Nothing has really changed. Bush has always been a "open borders" globalist.

Yes, something is going on. We must keep up the pressure on the House, they are our only hope.

Many people are going to be very upset when they read what Sensenbrenner had to say.

It certainly appears that way doesn't it? This isn't hard for the other 187 countries in the UN.

There is no way this makes sense from a political point of view, I agree. But it does make sense if those not in the news are pressuring the administration to act the way they are. As with all things in politics, as FDR said, "Nothing in politics happens by accident. If it happened, someone wanted it to happen."

So the main question is: How stands to gain from:

(1) allowing illegals to cross and stay out of the system; or
(2)who benefits from creating an immigration controversy so that there is a reaction to that controversy?

What reaction could be expected? If you can answer these questions, the reason for the open borders and the controversy at this time will be better understood.

Is this all a massive distraction?

Anyone still think Terry Reed's book "Compromised" is tin foil hat stuff?

"The Mexican politicians are dictating our border policy. Very strange."

Indeed. Something is completely out of character here. When I go down this road I ask myself what geo / political forms might result from this activity. I keep coming back to a Mexican, American, Canadian union. Good economic power, large population, competitive globally in the future, natural resources. You could make good arguments for this union, but no one is, at least openly. My problem with this route is I don't think our politicians could keep it secret. So what does that leave us with? Graft, corruption, and selling out your country for personal gain. This certainly has happened before and will again. But the fact that so many would have to be involved argues against it. What is left, insanity? Very, very, strange.

The only thing I can possibly imagine is it has to do with the election on July 2nd and the Socialist running for President down there -- trying not to give him leverage.

>>>I just don't get their position. He's totally turning his back on Americans. The Mexican politicians are dictating our border policy. Very strange.

Maybe the real George Bush was kidnapped in Mexico and Fox substituted a stunt double. (just kidding of course)

Or, he and his family plan on switching Jeb over to the Democratic Party after this election. (a real possibility seeing how they've ruined their names with a lot of conservative voters, and they want to build a family political dynasty)

Or, the Bush family plan on uniting Mexico and the U.S. within 10 years and this is just one step towards a Union of the Americas. (This is another dynasty angle)

All or any of these would explain it. I'm sure there's more possible explanations. Expansion of the political class, money to friends and contributors, and stupidity should always be chosen over wild conspiracies because of their naturally higher probabilities.
