Sources in the US said the Hamas-led Palestinian government will collapse within three months if the transfer of monetary aid to the Authority is not resumed.
The sources confirmed to the London-based al-Hayat newspaper that the EU, Jordan and Egypt have committed themselves not to transfer funds directly to the Palestinian government, adding that Palestinian banks will be forced to stand by their obligations to avoid confiscation by international banks.
Haniyeh is making a grave mistake
A senior State Department official lauded Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabias participation in the Quartet meeting last week, during which it was agreed to transfer funds to the PA directly via a special fund that will be supervised by an international body such as the World Bank or UN.
Western diplomatic sources in Washington said that it was also decided to open bank accounts for Palestinian Authority officials so they may receive theirs salaries without any money passing through the PA government.
The sources added that the steps taken will prevent a humanitarian crisis in the territories while making certain that the economic siege on Hamas will persist as long asthe terror group refuses to denounce terror and recognize Israel or past agreements signed between Israel and the PA.
(PA Prime Minister) Ismail Haniyeh is making a grave mistake by believing that the EU will not follow through on the steps it has decided on in order to apply pressure on the Hamas-led government, a senior American official said, adding that the EU views Hamas as a terror organization.
How is this a problem, again?
Sow. Reap.
And why is this a problem? Let the terrorist government fall! No more aid to Hamas!!!!
And your point is........?
BFD.
Pennslyvania government has had issues for decades. :)
"No, Jim -- you'll flood the whole compartment!"
"He'll die!"
"Sir -- he's dead already."
(pause) "It's too late, Jim."

It's nice to see good news!
There's so little of it!
Why do the government officials need salaries? They can clean shoes for a living.
Who was it that said,
"In a democracy the people get the government they deserve?"
Let Jimmy Carter personally bankroll them.
Been waiting for it to collapse so we can split the state into two pieces (harrisburg and philly and the rest of the state).
Is there actually a single sentient human being anywhere who cares about this?
Maybe the Hamas should use their money for something other than explosive devices. Screw em..starve the bastards out..allah willing.
We at FR can help. I'm gonna pass the hat and I know my fellow FReepers will be generous. Here we go - I'm starting with three pennies, an old subway token, and some pocket lint. Over to you.
I hate to be so hard and heartless on this issue, I really, really do, but the so called palestinians leave me no choice...let them suffer, eat their own, and destroy themselves. This is what they have earned in the world of consequences for actions. God forgive me.
The best thing that could happen to the Pallies, long term, is to let the welfare state collapse. Force them to think of some productive private-sector activity they could make money at, now that Saddam is not paying for suicide bombers
Let them reap what they sow.
According to this site, it was Churchill. As in Winston, not that pseudo-Indian clown Ward Churchill.
