Hadn't thought of that, since I haven't listened to Rush regularly in a while, but I think you're spot-on, on that.

Les Kinsolving has always asked dead on sarcastic questions. Especially of McCurry during Clinton. He also has a conservative talk radio show in DC.

Part ways how... he was explaning a term not defending a policy.
Tony is basically saying "amnesty" would be a pardon for a crime meaning it is just forgotten. He was saying that the plan is more of a mass trial where all defendants plead guilty and get a plea deal where they pay a fine and do some 'community service' (learn English, keep job) while they wait at the back of the line for full citizenship. In return they do not go to jail or have to leave the country.
They do avoid 'jail time' or 'deportation', but Tony is just explaining the accuracy of the term is off because it implies implicit forgiveness of crimes, not 'restitution' followed by forgiveness.
The core of that issue is that many believe the only 'restitution' for illegally coming to the country is to kick them back out. Which is a valid argument, but again not the one Tony was giving a rebuttal to.

The "Seattle Times" described Tony's first televised presser as having ended in chaos.
I happened to catch the ending of the presser.
What an outright lie.
Thank God for places like FreeRepublic.

You have to admit Tony is really cute, though, as he tries to explain the difference between amnesty and guest worker program....LOL
I love it when they asked why Pres. Bush is goint to Yuma, and he said "Cause it is a neat place?"...
To: rwa265
Both. He understands them because he is one of them, but he is clearly their superior in knowledge and talent.

Good question on Somalia: Tony says he's going to be careful how he parses this. There is concern about the presence of terrortists in Somalia and we don't want a beach head there. Terrorists will take advantage of the instability. We will work with others to crack down on it. We support the federal institutions in Somalia.
