However, in real life, when you realize your horse is out of the barn, what do you do? Do you throw up your hands and resign yourself to the loss of your horse. I suggest that a sensible approach is to go out and find your horse and bring him back. You may not be successful in that, but not trying guarantees failure.
Are you watching the senate?
On my way into the house from my front porch, I "think" I just heard FNC report that the senate is close to passing a "guest worker" program! Tell me I heard wrong!
My rep, Mike Simpson, is not a strong proponent of the 2nd amendment. He has a Democrat challenger who claims to be a strong 2nd amendment supporter. The Democrat is also a union member who oozes socialist remarks at every turn. I have no doubt that his claims of being pro-2nd amendment would be squelched by senior Democrats putting the squeeze on a junior member to "get in line" with the Democrat party. I won't let that happen.
Great post, Dog. We can agree to disagee and have a civil debate over where the Republican party should take us. But come November we'd better close ranks and keep the Democrat cretins from power.
They're not "rabid", they're just "One Issue Wonders".
I don't believe conservatives want to 'nuke' brown people. They're frustrated and extremely worried about the War on Terror, Iraq, Iran, Israel, NK, and leaky borders -- not to mention the usual suspects in the senate. (It certainly doesn't help to get up in the morning, turn on the TV and find out that Fatso Kennedy, your senior senator, is agreeing in public with President Bush.)
So am I and I've been here for over a year and a half. Are some FReepers more equal than others in your mind?
See posts 193, 267, and 402. I've been wrangling horses on FR the whole time I've been here.
I don't believe all of them are. And in fact I don't believe that even a majority of them are. Now if you want to say, "The democRAT leadership are...," or, "Those controlling the democRAT Party are...," then you have a genuine point that I cannot refute. But I know a lot of rank and file democRATs who are basically good Americans. People like Zell Miller who put their country ahead of party.
Then you have some major problems with reading comprehension.
Fine by me. I'll grant you all points to get past the pissin contest.
You're correct. For whatever reason, the voters, incidentally on the same side of the incumbent, voted to keep DeWine, thus encouraging RINO's to believe that the less conservative they act, the more chance they have of getting re-elected.
So what, in addition to casting our vote against the milquetoast candidate in a primary, can we do to encourage the machinery of the party to support more conservative candidates? Otherwise, even if the GOP maintains control of the govmt, will they eventually trend away from DeLays and toward the DeWines?
Or is voting as the losing loyal conservative minority in our own "party" all we should ever aspire to?
Well, just read the thread, friend...

Hey. I'm from Massachusetts and I fell for it this morning. I'm blaming lack of coffee as well.
Frankly, I have no comment on your rant, but you sure hit a hornets nest swinging your bat.
This sure is an entertaining thread on an otherwise slow day. Thanks!!
Yes, please fix the Chaffee attribution. We in MA have more than enough to be embarrassed about.
I can't figure out why *any* of them voted against me.
Maybe Shelby is OK, but Brownback has turned into a complete RINO on this issue.
After reading your whole post, this was kind of an amusing concluding comment. I'm not saying I don't agree with your comments regarding those who threaten to ditch the Republican Party. It is just clear you are a little angry about the whole thing (irrationally or not).
Then you might want to show that in your posts because my impression from reading them here (I just do not have time to investigate all prior posts before madly typing my "pearls of wisdom" needed on a thread) is that you were one of the "destroyers" who believe we can only get the GOP to listen when we make them lose.
And - that - in these times is the recipe for total destruction of this country.
Any takers?
