Well, you are an elitist by your own admission and you support Bush's postion on this. And the Senate compromise Bush was promoting was made possible by all but two Dem senators voting for it. And the rabble in the streets you decried earlier are the end beneficiaries - if Bush gets his way, they get to stay here.
Man, you are making a pretty piss-poor case that the elitists have a clue, let alone should be trusted with power.
What you need to explain is why, as you rail against the Party of Treason, President Bush, who you support on this issue, got almost complete support from the Party of Treason to get his agenda through the Senate.
You never quite get to that part.
Your reference to "rabble" in history touches a nerve with me, Justshutupandtakeit. Review this link, understand that I count Benjamin Merrell and Ninian Hamilton among my ancestors, and then come back to me with whatever point it is, that you're wanting to make.

You just decried the rabble in the streets at the pro-illegal rallies. And who is working to allow them to stay here legally? Senate Dems. Senate RINOs. And President Bush.
This is what is generally known as a conundrum. But you tend to simply pretend it does not exist.
"When you know what is best for the world, the little people should just shut up."
And take it.
The rabble ARE the RAT base. Those are the ones whose reputation you are so vehemently defending from elitists like myself.
If you believe Bush's plan is what these scum are trying to achieve then you are a bigger fool than I thought.
You just said the rabble was the folks protesting in the streets. And once again, who is seeking to have them stay here legally? Senate Dems. Senate RINOs. And President Bush. Over the votes of conservatives.
So once again, will you confront this conundrum? Or just continue to pretend it doesn't work by running from Rabble to Rat?
Fool? Once again, who is Bush allied with on this issue? Why, the very Party of Treason you decry.
And the rabble you spoke of who are protesting in the streets? Who is promoting their agenda? Senate Dems. Senate RINOs. And President Bush.
Conundrum.
If you have ever seen any post by me praising the communication skills of the GOP please just shoot me for being too stupid to live.
That's the message I'm hearing. Of course, the folks making these enlightened decisions never have to live anywhere near the consequences for such. And will expect us to continue to fork over the tax dollars for their pensions as our country withers.
Politics makes strange bedfellows. This is an original insight.
You are the one running around shrieking about the Party of Treason (and I agree, the Dems are bad news).
So then, when Bush allies with the Party of Treason to promote a bad Senate Bill that will give the rabble marching in the streets what they and the Party of Treason want, all you can say to that is "Politics makes strange bedfellows?" There isn't the teensiest, eensiest possible notion in your noggin that, given all your rants about how bad the Dems are, that Bush being allied with them to outvote conservatives MIGHT JUST INDICATE he is on the wrong side of this issue?
We'll throw the whiners some Grey Poupon for their finger sandwiches as we drive by.... :-D
That's all I'm asking. I'm not trying to connvince those on the other side to come to mine. I am insistantly repeating my points in as reasonable manner as possible, while encouraging all factions to do the same.
Keywords here: "reasonable", civilized" "intelligent" debate, which lock right into a keyphrase that we all out to try some Democrat Pavlovian association with. I HATE repeating myself, I'm FAMOUS for it, yet that is what I find myself doing over and over and over...the thing hasn't even got past the MOST IMPORTANT STAGE of it's possible passage: debate and comptomise in committee, and already there is a concerted effort to Miers the whole thing off the table! WHY, I ask you, WHY?
Sure. Hiking taxes is bad.
You missed my point.
My point is that we COULD, meaning we are physically capable of, massively hiking taxes, even if it would be against our nature and against our very interests.
And it's in that same sense that BorderBots "can" just suck it up and accept what the President and Republican Senate are offering them. They could, but they would think it as foolish and wrong to do so as you do about hiking taxes - therefore, they won't. That was my point.
LMAO! You totally missed the Democrats marching with them? C'mon, that's disingenuous. They're ALL rabble when they're out for a free lunch, legal or not.
I think you are not correct here.
The truth is he is part way between the Treasoncrats and the border lobby. Some times he is closer to the border lobby, sometimes he is closer to the TC's.
The Dems want automatic citizenship, he doesn't. The Senate RINO's seem to side more with the traitors on that one. The border folks want none of it.
He has proposed border security (admittedly he was brought screaming and kicking to this) that is much closer to the border lobby than the TC's. You need to read what he actually proposed before dismissing what he said as siding with the TC's. He wants the fence, wants more guards, wants better technologies focused on how to keep them out, and until we get better he is sending the guard to do the job of the minutemen, a proposal by many of you border folks. That's what he said, check the speech out for yourself, I even pasted the security parts earlier. They are right there with the border lobby.
Where he differs from both is the "guest worker program". That one divides the baby, and you should consider what it does, after reading it now I actually think it's a decent compromise.
I think you should be thrilled with the progress. Why in the world are you deceiving yourself into believing he is with the TC's on this, when it can be clearly demonstrated he is not. It strikes me that the border crowd has simply decided it has to hate Bush, and simply won't listen to what he says, yet repeats things others say he said instead.
No, I didn't. But, just today, the Senate passed an amnesty/guest worker bill that Bush was promoting and that the illegals want. In other words, Bush allied with all but two Senate Dems and Senate RINOs to outvote conservatives.
So unless you can show me where Bush says he will veto the Senate Bill as passed today, he is working with the Dems to give the rabble what they want.
My gawd, the bill gives AMNESTY - something Bush said he was against.
I think you should be thrilled with the progress
If this is progress, I would hate to see failure.
It strikes me that the border crowd has simply decided it has to hate Bush,
No, I just hate what he is doing to the GOP over this issue. He is siding with Dems and RINOs to outvote conservatives. And that alone shows he is on the wrong side of this issue.
