Unfortunately, this is a problem that actually needs a solution not just the Perpetual Whiners squalling. We are reaching a tipping point where Illegal Immigration will include so many people it will be totally unfixable soon.
The President has offered up a solution. Those who don't like it should be offering up an alternative instead of just squealing how much they hate Bush. Screaming slogans like "Enforce the laws" and "Secure the border" may make the screams feel good, it is not a solution. The system is broke, it needs fixing. Screaming is NOT fixing.
One of the 1st Illegals threads I wandered into by mistake taught me that. They were all patting each other on the back for how smart and tough they were and bragging how they would vote for the 1st politicians who "promised to issue a shoot on sight order". They simply are motivated by hysteric hate and ignorance. They have no desire for any real solution and merely want the excuse to squeal their angst and rage at the Government. Sorry they lead such pathetic lives this is all they are capable of is mindless rage and hate. That is NOT our problem. We need solutions to real problems, not their self absorbed angst and mindless bigotry.
One of my kids called me this morning and said she was so disgusted with the whining and shrieking she had heard, particularly on talk radio, that she no longer even wanted to listen to it. I think a lot of conservative young people feel that way; the hate-filled screamers are driving them away.
Actually the only long-term solution is for Mexico's economy to be so good that the Mexicans don't want to leave.
Then, they would have to start worrying about their own illegal problem from places further south.
Figure out a way short of invastion to dislodge their corrupt political class and get the economy growing at the 6-8% it could and you found the solution.
Of course if the economy grows too fast the politians can't count on their leverage over the poor. If it grows too slow, the poor revolt.
Kinda of a strange situation.
Amazing it is going to cost the GOP so dearly.
