Funny that their religion teaches them to expect it

In my personal experience -- every Sikh I've ever met was exactly the type man I'd appreciate as a neighbor or at my side in a fight..
I've never known a Sikh to lie, steal or default on an agreement...
Try to name another ethnic qroup you can say that about!

I can't....

You can be all-American, white bread, blonde-haired and blue-eyed, and still be yelled at and have things thrown at you from a passing car or truck just for jogging, biking, or walking along a road. There are heckling bullies and low lifes in the world, and one of the best ways to find out where they are is to jog or walk along a road with moderate to heavy traffic.

The ones I know here cut their hair and generally do not wear a turban. I don't know if that is because of a more relaxed attitude towards religion here...or because it is so hot!

"What happens is that Sikhs are frequently misidentified as Middle Easterners," Kooner said. "India is 6,000 miles away from Iraq. ...

I looked it up. New Delhi is only 1964 miles from Baghdad.

Blue turban on the males, too, I think.

The color may vary, but the shape is quite distinctive, and fairly easy to recognize after some exposure to the differences...

"New Delhi is only 1964 miles from Baghdad."

Yes, but New Delhi is also 1300 years in the future compared to the ME.
