I am beginning to suspect that it is only the "safety valve" of shipping millions of poor Mexicans to the United States that keeps Mexico from another revolution. The corruption can continue, and those that steal from government coffers can continue to do so, because there is no incentive to improve the operation of the economy with millions of working-age men and women missing. Senor Fox presides over what from all appearances seems to be ethnic cleansing. If Jorge wasn't so busy turning the other cheek he would recognize this.
What Mexico does is Mexico's business, as long as it does not affect us. When we're subject to the dumping of millions of uneducated third world gardeners, then it becomes our business. It's an invasion by any measure, and should be dealt with appropriately. Get your house in order, Senor Fox, or we can do it for you. If we're going to have 50+ million Mexicans as US citizens, we may as well have the real estate to go with it. (and the oil.)

Also, notice he said "reduce" not stop illegals. The only way you are going to stop all illegal immigration if if you make the U.S. into some shithole nobody wants to come to anyway. I'll pass.

The irony is that despite all of his pandering to them, Mexicans, both in Mexico and in the United States, seem to hold Bush in contempt.

Your bolded comment is a very provocative point.

"It's worrying," said Arturo Solis, an immigrant-rights activist in Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas. "The bad thing is that the American government is insisting on confusing immigration with a criminal problem."¡Well, Señor, since the Mexican government seems to think that illegal immigracion to Mexico a criminal problem, then we Gringos see nothing wrong with making it a criminal problem in the USA, too!
¿Comprendes?

The party hacks will loose control of the base on the issue of illegal immigration. If the republicans loose control of the house and they will, Bush will be impeached. Middle class Americans will not be contributing to his defense fund nor will they be out picketing on his behalf. Unless la Raza and lulac show up to protest the impeachment of Bush the same way turned out to tell Gringos to leave the country, the republican party is over.

Ain't it the truth! I'm gonna use that in my tagline!
