A question though (two actually):
1) How long would it take to build a wall that would satisfy those who want a wall?
and
2) What do we do with the illegals in our country while this wall is being built?
Not bashing anyone, I just want to understand all sides of this issue.

Put 'em to work building the damn wall. Just make sure as the last brick is put in place, that they're on the OTHER side of the wall.

What do we do with the illegals in our country while this wall is being built? They can help build the wall.

From the day it is started, I believe they could easily complete a wall of that magnitude in under a year and a half.
Plus for every section of wall erected, you then need 1/4th of the people needed to patrol that area compared to areas with no walls.
Illegals clutter our roads with non-insured autos, clutter our jails now with people who have visited violence upon our citizens. (They are a 50% increase in our California prisons).
They take homes away from disabled military who would get subsidized housing because illegals with a citizen baby get priority.
Their illegal children cost us many billions as millions of illegal children cost us an additional 14k each.
WE CAN'T AFFORD TO NOT HAVE A WALL AND SECURED BORDER.

Not bashing anyone, I just want to understand all sides of this issue. A double fence from Gulf Coast to the Pacific, could be built in 1 year... It would probably take 2 years, though..
As for what we do with the illegals in the meantime...
Give them that time to return home and start the LEGAL process of immigration..
Basically, tell them it's a Misdemeanor Crime to get caught here while we're building the border fence..
But when it's finished, it becomes a FELONY, and they will spend 1 year for the 1st offense at hard labor..
A second offense will be 2 years, 3rd Five Years, etc..
And they will still get sent home after they serve their time, and they will be forever barred from entering, even legally...
Let the illegals decide what to do, go and re-enter legally, or stay and serve time, and lose any chance at citizenship..

I hate to think this, but unless I die before the age that typical Texas wimmin live to be (whatever that is), I think I may live to see the day when Mexicans are filing lawsuits so they can fly their flag above The Alamo again. Mark my words.
And the SAD thing is... Texas is becoming so diluted, most people here will probably allow it to happen. In the name of "political correctness," doncha know.
