Good summation. Bush simply refuses to budge on this issue.

"Good summation. Bush simply refuses to budge on this issue."

And therefore he will lose Congress, be impeached, and lose Iraq when Congress cuts funding, I believe.

I don't WANT that, but I think the only way that can be avoided is either for the Senate to cave into the House in the reconciliation committee talks and not include amnesty but make the fence more robust (and Bush not veto it)...which is highly unlikely...or for currently incandescent BorderBots to cool off over the next 6 months and grimly go to the polls to maintain Republicans in control because of other issues like Iraq.

And I don't personally think that enough BorderBots are going to change their mind on the issue and back down, especially since the flood coming across the border and the associated problems are not going to stop between now and then.

I think the President euchered his own party tonight, and that the damage is probably unrecoverable.

It's too bad.
Maybe I should stop posting about this now, because it sounds like I am glad about it. Truth is, I think it's an unmitigated political catastrophe.

Good night.
