You know, even if the Dems did take Congress, the President still has a veto. Any impeachment effor will fail, because the Dems aren't likely to have 67 votes in the Senate either way. So its not as apocalyptic as some make it seem, unless the President won't veto their liberal agenda. Or perhaps in desperation to elect republicans, a bunch of RINOs get elected and then start to vote with the Dems to override a Presidential veto. A dem congress and a Rep President would result in Deadlock, meaning that neither the Reps or the Dems could do much damage.
There are times in every movement when the embers of its founding principles have died down so low that only a fatal crisis will drive the passion of its members to rekindle the spirit that built it in the first place.
Conservatives have seen those for whom they spent forty years creating majorities squander many opporunities in six short years. Their current disgust, however passionately spoken, is rational.
