Majority of Americans support a guest worker program. In fairness, there were other polls with different questions suggesting that Americans also want tighter enforcement of immigration laws. But there was no poll indicating any substantial support for treating these people as criminals, rounding them up, deporting them, etc.
In such a small amount of time I was able to blow your "80%" assertion out of the water.
A Time magazine poll? Give me a break! Why not AP/Ipsos?
Also, the issue as *you* framed it is *not* whether Americans favor a `guest worker' (now there's a great phrase to veil the reality) program, but whether they believe illegal aliens are breaking our laws.
So give us a credible poll and stick to the issue.
