BUSH: WE CAN'T BOOT 11M ILLEGALS
NY Post ^ | 5/15/06

Posted on 05/15/2006 5:48:16 AM PDT by areafiftyone

May 15, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - In his live, nationally televised address tonight, President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.

"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri in a preview of Bush's speech.

She said Bush plans to spell out his vision for sealing the border, enforcing the law, and "creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do." Bush plans to visit the U.S.-Mexican border this week, and will dispatch his Cabinet to help sell the immigration plan.

The Senate plans to return to the contentious issue this week now that Republicans and Democrats have a deal to plow through controversial amendments. But the House and Senate are far apart on whether to put illegals on a path to citizenship.

Tamburri said Bush would call for "better equipment, increased funding, and advanced technology" to secure the border.

She didn't confirm press reports that Bush wants to expand deployments of National Guard Troops to step up border enforcement. Some Guard troops are already deployed in Arizona and New Mexico, but Bush is considering a big increase.

White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that enforcement was the Border Patrol's job - but then asked whether they needed help from the Guard on an "interim basis."

"This is not about militarizing the border," he said. The president is looking to do everything he can to secure the border. It's what the American people want."

Several families to a house/apartment, not very pleasant either. Also, 'other' sub-standard living conditions. In addition, being alone here and from Mexico - you just make do with what you have outside of work.

I know, by the way, that posters here state that it's all about the per hour wages and that is true, for example in the construction industry, but there are a ton of jobs, especially crop work, really smelly critter killing and processing that practically no one will do. Mexicans will do those jobs. We should get real on this point. When is the last time you saw a bunch of white or black people out in a field picking strawberries? Would you if the pay was, for example, doubled? I don't think so. Also, would anyone buy the strawberries if the price was doubled? I'm thinking a lot fewer than now.

Amen. But you must remember politicians themselves are above the law just look at what happen to Kennedy when they drove him home instead of giving him a breath test.I know someone who was just arrested for drunk driving and he was not given any special treatment. This is one of the reasons why they don't give a damn if these people are breaking the law they have to keep themselves in powet and the hispanic vote is looking pretty good by both parties! But what can the American people do?

You're right, I just don't know what we can do about it (short of invading them--their corrupt leaders are their problem, not a shortage of natural resources or people). I am more than willing to do what I can to help make MEXICO a better place, but my biggest concern is my own country.
Interestingly ALL of my Mexican born students loved Mexico and said they intended to go back to live one day. Now, that may be a different story when they grow up and have jobs, but they are quite attached to the country.

I have to believe that there are a lot of college age born-in-the-USA kids nowadays who feel that making beds in a motel, or working in a restaurant is work they "dont want to do".

Why do you have to believe that? susie

Well then, you ARE talking to me, since I suspect my criticism of him may well be harsh (unpleasant or uncomfortable).

Then why did they just pass a law saying Illegals could not get Medicaid? susie

Maybe they are addressing the babies born to illegals, because those babies can get Medicaid.

Or..there may be some states that did allow it - most don't.

The economy is booming because of hard working Americans, especially small business owners like myself. And no, I don't hire illegal immigrants.

I don't see anyone picking anything, since I don't live in an agricultural area. And when I lived in a cotton farming area, I saw MACHINES doing the harvesting.

Our administration is avidly promoting the American Union, styled after the European Union. The plan is to minimize opposition by creating cooperative economic regional groups using trade agreements such as NAFTA and CAFTA. Dick Cheney spoke at the David Rockefeller founded Council of the Americas on 6 May 2002. He spoke of being on target with another trade agreement, the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) which the elite scheduled for passing by January of 2005. At that time America would become part of the American Union — without the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to protect us from our own government.
Although Congress defeated the bill in 1998, the march goes on.

"NAFTA is a major stepping stone to the New World Order." Henry Kissinger said when campaigning for the passage of NAFTA. Although the trade agreements do not fall under the normal definitions of warfare, it is nonetheless a battle waged against the freedoms of every American citizen.

I'm still waiting for one of you FROBLs to tell me WHY it's impossible/flawed. Thus far, not a one of you has done so.

You win, as long as outflow exceeds inflow by at least 1 per time unit, and time frame is irrelevant, it is possible to deport 11 million. Well, kinda, since most of them will have died of old age before it happens and you won't really have deported 11 million.

There is no indication that the "law of diminishing returns" applies. In many cases, doubling budget results in MORE than a doubling of output. It depends on how the budget is applied.

Okay, you lay it out then. Where will you apply double the budget to net a doubling of effect. For instance what is your forecast for the increase in court costs? How about enforcement personnel, capital equipment, detention facilities, legal representation, health and human services logistics?

The law of diminishing returns most definitely applies since any increase in program effectiveness will be met with an increase of resistance activities. In the real world anyway.

As an aside, what is FROBL? I'm not familiar with the term.
