BUSH: WE CAN'T BOOT 11M ILLEGALS
NY Post ^ | 5/15/06

Posted on 05/15/2006 5:48:16 AM PDT by areafiftyone

May 15, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - In his live, nationally televised address tonight, President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.

"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri in a preview of Bush's speech.

She said Bush plans to spell out his vision for sealing the border, enforcing the law, and "creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do." Bush plans to visit the U.S.-Mexican border this week, and will dispatch his Cabinet to help sell the immigration plan.

The Senate plans to return to the contentious issue this week now that Republicans and Democrats have a deal to plow through controversial amendments. But the House and Senate are far apart on whether to put illegals on a path to citizenship.

Tamburri said Bush would call for "better equipment, increased funding, and advanced technology" to secure the border.

She didn't confirm press reports that Bush wants to expand deployments of National Guard Troops to step up border enforcement. Some Guard troops are already deployed in Arizona and New Mexico, but Bush is considering a big increase.

White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that enforcement was the Border Patrol's job - but then asked whether they needed help from the Guard on an "interim basis."

"This is not about militarizing the border," he said. The president is looking to do everything he can to secure the border. It's what the American people want."

President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.

"Up the price" of being here, and the illegals will go home -- on their own.

Tell the illegals if they are found in this country, they will not only be deported, they'll never be allowed to be citizens of this county - and their children born here will be stripped of US citizenship. Allow illegals 3 weeks to get out of our country... they'll leave on their own.

The illegals who can't fly out will walk out - same as how they got here. Then set up system in Mexico where they can sign up to return as citizens. They'll be put on a list and be considered along with all the other peoples of the world who want to become Americans.

As to the "guest worker" program, fighting for the right to exploit third world people by allowing them to work in our country as second class citizens is sick.

We're better than slavery-lite. It's not our way.

If journalists from India came to the US illegally and offered to write for $6,000 a year, newspapers wouldn't be able to find American journalists to write for them either (at that price)...

American industry needs to socialize the American poor to do these jobs, or pay them enough, or innovate so machines will do the jobs.

The path of least resistance - slavery lite - will not take us where we want to go...

Yep. And you can bet that the Guatemalan Midget Mimes are waiting in the background for their turn. Painting their protest signs and perfecting their forlorn unifying cry of justice: America: Who Will Hear OUR Voices??

People can always find a reason why something can't be done - can't boot 11M illegals etc.

We're giving green cards to the average Mexicans? Yeah, yeah I personally know Mexicans who are here as teachers etc.

But the only other green cards holders I know are RNs, computer programmers etc. And they're from Scotland, India, China.

Almost all of the people we're so outraged about are here illegally and Blessed knows it.

"Tell that to my 53 year old white husband, who has been in the construction trade for over 25 years. Who has seen his wages decline and stagnate over the last 6 years or better. Just when we should be getting ready for retirement we're being driven into poverty instead."

Yeah. Exactly the same thing is happening here in Indiana.

It seems that the open borders crowd doesn't know that many Americans are already "doing the jobs Americans won't do".

Legal construction companies in my area are having a difficult time winning contracts over those hiring illegals.

There are a LOT of people in my area who make their living with their hands.

Let's see: Manufacturing jobs gone to Taiwan and Malaysia, high tech jobs gone to India and China, cheap Mexican illegals here to do the rest. Yep, that just about covers it.

Teenagers who are willing to work can still find employment.

Yup. My daughter's on her second job.

It is a lot more difficult that it was when I was a kid, but it is doable.

What? Is it too hard to do a little research?

I'll get on that right after my research on bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster.

Like hell it's not possible. The GOP and the federal government just don't have the stones for it.

"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman.

(1) It's unrealistic to expect to catch every single speeder on our nations highways so we will just let everyone go as fast as they want.

(2)It's unrealistic to expect to catch every single drunk-driver on our highways so we will just stop enforcing drunk-driving laws.

etc., etc., etc.,

Go back and re-read what I actually SAID---which was to double the enforcement budget for deportations. THAT is what changes the number from 1.5 million to 3.0 million. Not "magic".

It's still magic because in the real world doubling a budget does not double output, it is called the law of diminishing returns. Add to that, if the program is effective, resistance, both legal challenges and otherwise will increase eating up even more of your budget. Doubling the budget will likely be required just to maintain the output of 1.5 million.

Since we're talking about an already legitimate process that deports 1.5 million a year, why should there be a question about the legitimacy of deporting 11 million???

Let's simplify so it isn't so confusing for you. "You can effectively deport 11 million illegal aliens. TRUE or FALSE?"

It would seem to me that deporting them DOES "get control of the illegal community within the borders.

You have a population of 11 million illegals. Over the course of the year you deport 1.5 million. Over the course of that 365 days you have 9.5 million illegals within the country who were functional plus any new additions that make it in. Deportation does not control that community because for that 9.5 million deportation did not affect them. If the best you can do is say "one out of every 8 of you who try will not be successful," you will continue to have the 8 try because the risk reward equation favors the illegal.

Your rapid fire responses are stuck on level 1 logic and although easily debunked take up too much time. Stop and think it through. Try to get to level 4 or 5 logic where the elements of the solution, prevention, enforcement, assimilation and control work together. A solution is possible. It just won't involve the concept of deporting 11 million illegal aliens. That is a flawed concept and any solution based on it will ultimately be flawed also.

Actually, I saw a billboard in Spanish urging Mexican laborers to form a union.

That was on I-65 just north of Louisville Ky.

That was not an official government document. That's the Council on Foreign Relations. The US co-chair was William Weld. Yawn.
