BUSH: WE CAN'T BOOT 11M ILLEGALS
NY Post ^ | 5/15/06

Posted on 05/15/2006 5:48:16 AM PDT by areafiftyone

May 15, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - In his live, nationally televised address tonight, President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.

"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri in a preview of Bush's speech.

She said Bush plans to spell out his vision for sealing the border, enforcing the law, and "creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do." Bush plans to visit the U.S.-Mexican border this week, and will dispatch his Cabinet to help sell the immigration plan.

The Senate plans to return to the contentious issue this week now that Republicans and Democrats have a deal to plow through controversial amendments. But the House and Senate are far apart on whether to put illegals on a path to citizenship.

Tamburri said Bush would call for "better equipment, increased funding, and advanced technology" to secure the border.

She didn't confirm press reports that Bush wants to expand deployments of National Guard Troops to step up border enforcement. Some Guard troops are already deployed in Arizona and New Mexico, but Bush is considering a big increase.

White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that enforcement was the Border Patrol's job - but then asked whether they needed help from the Guard on an "interim basis."

"This is not about militarizing the border," he said. The president is looking to do everything he can to secure the border. It's what the American people want."

Punishing employers, eliminating anchor babies, refusing driver's licenses to illegals, making it a felony for a non-citizen to vote, denying public benefits to illegals, deporting any illegals that come to the attention of law enforcement -- these are just some of the things our nation could make the climate so uncomfortable that a lot of them would just leave on their own, and a lot more would think twice about coming here in the first place.

1. Employers are currently protected by two Clinton era laws which make it illegal for them to ask for the status of a potential employee (considered discriminatory) and are only required to believe that the documents they are shown as proof of legality are authentic. Of course, large corporations have figured out how to use these laws to their advantage, and the passage of these laws in the late 90's is why employers have been less prosecuted.

2. According to most sources I have seen, eliminating anchor babies would require a constitutional amendment. In addition, you would have to write it so that it wasn't discriminatory towards Mexicans, and there are all sorts of complications in getting it past some state legislatures for ratification, particularly California and other states with high Hispanic populations and large Rat states like Illinois, Michigan, and New York.

3. It is STATES which have allowed drivers' licenses to illegals, and with that motor voter registration. Check California for what states, even those being crippled by immigration, do, all because of Rats wanting votes.

4. I would agree on the felony for voting if not a citizen, but I think that the law would have to be written very carefully. Proof of citizenship before registration would require repeal of the motor voter bill, and again, we run up against the obstruction of the democrats.

5. As of July 1, Medicaid recipiients will be required to show proof of citizenship. A lot of people complaining about the administration's actions have completely overlooked this excellent step towards getting the costs to hospitals under control. Of course, I am sure there is probably a lawsuit from the ACLU in the works to stop it.

5. Deporting illegals is a fine idea, but you do realize that unless they are suspected of criminal activity they have (by LAW) a right to a hearing to pleade their case, don't you? And we don't have enough cells to hold them, which is why the catch and release program got started. We are building more facilities to hold them, but because they are guaranteed hearings you are going to have a very slow rate of deportation.

The difficulties of the immigration laws are WHY we need comprehensive reform, as well as a secure border. Guest workers are a small part of what is needed, and in fact should only be considered with reform in the other areas I just detailed.

Your argument is completely baseless and you wouldn't look so stupid if you would drop it.

Will you be submitting an abuse report for this post?

Not necessary, if you pay attention to the panic in the illegal community when there are even rumors of raids.
Combine that with document checking cooperation with the IRS and SSA, and employer fines/jail-they will leave.

But of course, people who say it's impossible really don't want to try.

I say that if we can't deport illegals (by attrition or otherwise) and protect the our own borders, then we certainly don't have the ability to nation build in Iraq or Afghanistan, and should get the heck out.

If you are going to run your business ILLEGALLY and try and avoid the law, then good luck -- your days are numbered.

Man you are a joke by making such horrible accusations. How did you count the numbers of loans crews in your area and construction workers? I am sure it is just hearsay while you are drinking a bud with your friends. You are just full of BS.

"Okay, I challenge you to put forth a rational plan to detain, process and deport millions of illegal aliens, to conform to the requirements of the constitution, to handle the swarm of legal challenges that will be entered into the system and to not break the bank while you are doing it. YOU CAN'T! Any attempt you make at it I can probably rip to shreds in a matter of minutes."

Sure I can. It's called the regular INS process, which was handling 1.5 million per year under Clinton (which number dropped drastically under Bush--I'll leave the conspiracy theorist to figure out why THAT might be). Double the number of agents and we can obviously handle 3 million a year. So it'll take ten years or so to get rid of them all--I'm patient.

And put who in office??? Most Republicans and Democrats are NOT for booting 11 Million illegals. I don't know if there is one out there for it.

Tancredo, for one.

Oh, well I guess if they look Mexican and can't speak English the employers will have to assume they aren't legal then, won't they? Which they would do in a nano second if they were really afraid of penalties.

Give me a break.

the pubbies have a problem. their choices like those of the people on flight 73 are between certain death and near certain death.

If they allow the illegals citizenship--the illegal/legals will do what they did after 1986: vote democratic and tip the country to a democratic majority as they have done in california and that because after 1993 in California many mexicans began voting in california to preserve gov bennies--for which the dems excel. There won't be social security benefit for Americans of retirement age from the illegals/legals because they will suck up what ever they put into the economy--as they are now. They won't yield a net gain. ie they won't pay for anyone's social security.

Everyone but everyone who has ever been to any government building that dispenses anything from health care to drivers lisences can't help but notice that the place is swamped with foreigners. Basically the welfare state system set up in the 1960's is being totally gamed by foreigners.

What the president looks like he is about to do will demoralize the republicans bringing on the effects of the 1992 & 1996 elections. There may not even be a third party but when W builds in a reversal of the fortunes of the war of 1848--it creates a kind of passivity in people when they see their leaders commit them to the status of world historical losers.

If Bush decides to put up a wall and expel the illegals then there is a chance to preserve Republican majorities. It would be helpful to promise that the USA will kill the cost of water desalination and transport so as to make it economically possible to turn the deserts 1000 miles from any desert seacoast -- green. (this would increase the habitable size of the USA by a third and double the habitable size of Mexico.)This work is already ongoing and will be accomplished in five years or so--or in about the same time frame that GM promises to have a cost effective fuel cell car. For GM as it is for the GOP its do or die time.

The chief difference between the pubbies current predicament and flight 93 is that they are currently in the cockpit. (if you presume that bush is a republican or at least more of a republican than a bilderburger.)

The point here is that if these guys cannot act like loyal americans at least they can act like republicans. ie people who have a stake in the continuity of the republican party.

Since they are not doing this the republicans in the white house and senate all need to be smacked on both sides of the face and kicked in the but.

Those are people who are caught in transit and don't have a job. Those who are already here, when caught, can request a hearing and plea for a green card, on the basis of being already employed.

"This issue was not a big deal a mere 18 months ago in the election. All of a sudden it's the ONLY issue that matters. What nonsense.

The President's position on this issue hasn't changed since 1999. The eventual bill that gets through Congress will be much closer to his proposal than Tancredo's.

Tonight on the Live Thread we'll see attacks on the President that will exceed anything directed at Clinton, Kerry, Gore or any other 'Rat. They'll need a double shift of Mods tonight -- like having extra cops on holiday driving weekends."

The below post can be found at Post 252. Please address Agenda 21 and the recent meeting of the North American Bloc. I'd love to hear your take on this little bit of factual information.

"For the love of God and Country, President Bush, please show some spine tonight"

Oh, he'll show some spine alright. He'll show us the big plan signed by his father H.W. Bush, Agenda 21. We already know what the meeting was about between Canada, Mexico and the USA. It was all about the "secure zone" which is to be around the perimeter of the big 3 in North America. Never mind sovereign borders. Anyone who doesn't see what is going on here is purposefully keeping their blinders on and intact.

It's time for all of you Party Liners to wake up and smell the death of our nation.

They said drones MAY be deployed along the border. Great! But how many?

Both the New Mexico and Texas Air National Guards are bringing Predator squadrons on line.  Not sure how far along they are, though.  I believe each unit will have around 30 Predators.

This issue was not a big deal a mere 18 months ago in the election. All of a sudden it's the ONLY issue that matters.

Eighteen months ago, 500,000 illegal aliens and their enablers weren't marching down the streets of Los Angeles waving the flags of their nationality.

Some of us see this as a slight problem.

Dane, I swore a year ago to never comment on one of your bizarre statements, but I can not pass this by. When did you change your tactics? Use too, anyone that disagreed with you was trying to get Hillary elected, now they are communists. When did you make the big switch?
